Operational Shift Leader at Malmö City Alarm Center

Do you want to work in a socially important organization where your leadership, ability to prioritize, and calmness make a difference every day? As an operational shift leader at Malmö City Alarm Center, you will be a central part of the work to create safety and continuity for the residents of Malmö, around the clock, all year round.

The Alarm Center is part of the Health, Care, and Social Services Administration and consists of approximately 65 dedicated employees. We are responsible for security alarms, personal and burglary alarms, camera surveillance, and technical support. Here, technology, operational leadership, and social benefit meet – in an organization that never stands still. We work together to create a stable, safe, and accessible operation, where both people and systems have the right conditions to function optimally.

We are now looking for two operational shift leaders for the night, with work scheduled according to a rotating schedule.

Job Responsibilities

As an operational shift leader, you lead the alarm operators during ongoing operations and ensure that the business is safe, structured, and efficient. The role involves working closely with the team, coordinating work in real-time, and acting as the manager's extended arm during your shift. You are a clear role model who creates focus, stability, and direction – even when conditions change rapidly.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Staffing, prioritizing, and distributing tasks
  • Leading work during acute or complex events
  • Collaborating with internal and external actors such as security guards, police, and technical functions
  • Ensuring good and clear communication both internally and externally
  • Documenting important events in shift leader reports
  • Participating in meetings and forums where the operational perspective needs representation
  • Working on development and quality related to routines, working methods, processes, and improvements

We Offer

With us, you will have a developing and meaningful role where you make a real difference every shift. You will be part of a socially important organization with great trust and a team characterized by commitment, competence, and strong team spirit. In the role of operational shift leader, you will have clear areas of responsibility and good opportunities to influence both the operational work and the long-term development of the organization.

You will receive a comprehensive and paid introductory training of about four weeks – with shifts during the day, evening, and night – which provides you with a safe and stable foundation for the assignment. With us, you work closely with qualified colleagues, have the opportunity to drive development issues forward, and become part of a context where technology, leadership, and social benefit meet.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Approved upper secondary education
  • At least 1 year of experience in operational leadership as a shift leader at an alarm center or in another event-driven organization with continuous operations
  • Experience in making decisions and leading resources in acute or complex situations
  • Good computer skills and experience working in multiple parallel systems
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written
  • Good knowledge of English, as some of our support functions are located in other countries.

Meritorious if you have

  • Post-secondary education in leadership, security, social sciences, or technology
  • Additional language skills

Personal Characteristics

We are looking for someone who is secure, stable, and action-oriented in your leadership. You have a natural way of creating structure, prioritizing, and making decisions even when the pace is high or situations are complex.

You are communicative, attentive, and professional – and you have a strong ability to create engagement and participation in the team. It is also important that you bring energy, drive, and a positive attitude to work, as you need to inspire, motivate, and contribute to a culture characterized by quality and solution focus.

You thrive in an organization where technology, collaboration, and social benefit meet, and you want to actively contribute to both the team's and the organization's development.
