Job Description

The central student health service is part of the school's organization responsible for ensuring that students have the best possible teaching situation. The operations should be based on scientific evidence and proven experience, primarily focusing on health promotion and prevention.

The school nurse's mission is to create the best possible conditions for students' health, development, and learning based on their medical competence. Together with the school doctor, you are responsible for organizing the medical interventions of the student health service in the school according to current guidelines and instructions.

The work is carried out in close collaboration with the head of student health, school doctor, school management, and other student health personnel. This also involves collaboration with students, guardians, school staff, as well as organizations and authorities outside the school. On a few occasions per school year, you are expected to participate in meetings or training outside the municipality.

As a school nurse, you are responsible for offering health visits according to the Education Act, vaccinations within the national vaccination program, supplementary vaccinations, and medical assessments. The mission also includes monitoring students' working environment from a medical perspective and contributing to a safe school experience.

Qualifications

Licensed nurse with a specialist nursing program focused on:

• District nurse
• Child and adolescent
• School nurse program

Meritorious:

• Previous experience as a school nurse.
• Experience with the Prorenata journal system.
• Good computer skills and experience working with digital records.

Your Profile / Your New Job

As a school nurse, you have an important role in the school and a significant trust capital to manage. You work independently and have good planning skills, placing great importance on collaboration and relationship-building in everyday life.

It is important that you can work independently and have the capacity to plan and prioritize work throughout the school year. We are looking for someone who is flexible and solution-oriented, with the ability to see the whole picture regarding students' needs. You work with precision and good judgment and contribute to a positive work climate through collaboration and relationship-building.

As a school nurse in Österåkers Municipality, you will receive support from the medically responsible school nurse (MLA) and school doctor. As a new employee, you will be offered a mentor and you will be part of a work community where school nurses share experiences and support each other in daily work. Guidance is offered regularly.

The work is based on local guidelines based on the recommendations of the National Board of Health and Welfare and the National Agency for Education, as well as applicable laws and regulations. Regular professional meetings are held, and collaboration with healthcare partners and collaborators is well established.
