As a land strategist, you contribute to leading, driving, and developing the work with Malmö city's property ownership. You will have a varied and meaningful assignment where you, together with colleagues both within and outside the administration, have the opportunity to make a real difference for the city's development.
Responsibilities
In the role of land strategist, you will take on a leading role and work broadly with strategic issues related to urban development and the city's land holdings.
In most assignments, you collaborate with colleagues both within the property and street office and with other administrations of Malmö city, as well as external partners. In your daily work, you collaborate with investigators, appraisers, lawyers, development engineers, planning architects, among others.
You will be an important part of a team with the other land strategists in the unit. Specific tasks for the land strategist team include ensuring that the land holdings sustainably and long-term match the city's needs for housing supply, business, community services, green and blue environments, infrastructure, etc., through property acquisitions.
The land strategist team also leads, drives, and coordinates the administration's work with comprehensive planning (ÖP), detailed comprehensive planning (FÖP), national and regional planning, as well as city-wide programs such as housing supply programs, among others. You will have an active role in these efforts.
Other tasks associated with the role of land strategist include driving and participating in development assignments, location investigations, and other inquiries, committee and budget assignments, handling referrals, etc.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with a degree in social sciences, architecture, physical planning, civil engineering with a focus on surveying, or another equivalent education that we consider comparable for the position. You have at least five years of experience in physical urban or community development. The role also requires experience in a leading position having driven strategic urban development assignments or projects. Furthermore, you are accustomed to collaborating broadly with different competencies and feel comfortable working with Microsoft Office 365 package.
It is an advantage if you can demonstrate that you have completed project management training, process leadership training, other types of leadership training, or other relevant education. Experience in working with comprehensive planning and housing supply is seen as a benefit.
You have good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written. It is an advantage to have experience working with programs in Adobe's Creative Cloud package.
As a person, you have a well-developed ability to collaborate and thrive in a role where you interact with many people. At the same time, you can work independently when needed and plan and structure your work effectively, taking responsibility for driving assignments forward. You are able to lift your gaze and see the strategic perspective when working on your assignments. You have the energy to drive and develop, even in assignments that run over a long period.
About the workplace
The Development Unit consists of 11 employees who together lead, drive, and develop the administration's work with the city's property ownership, which includes working strategically through acquisitions and sales of properties, ensuring that land holdings sustainably and long-term match the city's needs. The unit is also responsible for ownership, management, operation, and development of Malmö's commercial port and its infrastructure, which includes the role of landlord in relation to the city's port operator. Other responsibilities of the unit include the city's land allocation policy. The Development Unit is one of five units in the property department at the property and street office.
The Property and Street Office is one of the 14 administrations in Malmö city. The administration owns, develops, and manages the city's land on behalf of the technical committee and is tasked with enabling a good urban life for the residents of Malmö and the city's businesses.
