Personal Assistant for 8-Year-Old Boy with Special Needs
Iustitia Assistans ABSödermanlands län, Eskilstuna
Previous experience is desired
Working hours are scheduled for afternoons/evenings and weekends. Daytime work is relevant during school breaks and holidays.
Do you want to be part of starting an assistance program as the first external assistant and make a difference in a boy and his family's daily life?
Our client is an 8-year-old boy who enjoys speed, fun, and sounds. If he had his way, he would swim, swing, and listen to music all day long. He also likes to go outside for a while each day to be active.
The boy has a constant need for supervision and requires help with everything in his daily life.
He lacks verbal language and communicates through body language and sounds. Therefore, it is essential that you are attentive to different signals, calm, and able to interpret body language. His mood can change quickly, and as a personal assistant, you need to be observant to swiftly and smoothly redirect frustration.
During the day, the boy attends school without his personal assistant. After school, most work takes place at the boy's home with his family, so it is important that you are good at communicating, have a positive and respectful demeanor, and possess good empathetic skills.
The boy mostly eats via a feeding tube and requires supervision due to severe epilepsy.
The work is based on respect for the individual's self-determination and integrity. A thorough and clear introduction applies upon hiring.
A driver's license is a requirement.
It is desirable that you have knowledge of child development, are pedagogical, a bit inventive, and enjoy trying out different activities with the boy to help him develop.
Since the client does not have spoken language and has difficulty expressing himself, it is necessary that you are creative, attentive, and observant of small signals. Experience in personal assistance and epilepsy is an advantage, but personal suitability and care experience will weigh the most. Please include in your application when you are available for the position.
Iustitia Assistans has a policy to check newly hired employees against the police criminal record as part of the hiring process. Iustitia Assistans values its clients' safety and security and has a routine to obtain this extract for all persons employed by the company. This means that upon hiring, we will request a criminal record extract from you before you can start working. You will order the extract according to LSS from the police. You can find the form at the following web address: https://polisen.se/tjanster-tillstand/belastningsregistret/barn-med-funktionsnedsattning/
The form you should choose is LSS - performing certain services for children with disabilities (442.9), regardless of which position you have applied for with us. The police processing time can take up to two weeks, so please order your extract as soon as possible. By applying for a job with Iustitia Assistans, you give your consent for the employer to also check you in the enforcement authority's register.
