The area of orthopedics and hand surgery conducts university healthcare and clinical research at the county's three hospitals, Örebro University Hospital, Karlskoga Hospital, and Lindesberg Hospital. The area provides care across the entire orthopedic field, including highly specialized care. A comprehensive restructuring is underway in the area to improve accessibility, quality, and cost-effectiveness. The establishment of a clinical research unit is an important part of the development work.

Karlskoga Hospital is one of Region Örebro County's three acute hospitals. We who work at Karlskoga Hospital are proud of our hospital. Department 6 is an orthopedic surgical care department where we specialize in shoulder orthopedics and acute fracture orthopedics. We have a large acute mission and receive patients from the entire county who have suffered a fracture.

The nursing work takes place in our three nursing groups consisting of nurses, nursing assistants, and rehabilitation expertise from physiotherapists and occupational therapists. The nursing work focuses on preoperative and postoperative care where pain relief and mobilization are important parts. For the acute hip fracture patient, we have developed specific care, which includes all nurses in the department performing hip blocks, FICB, for pain relief.

On weekdays, we have a pharmacist, discharge coordinator, and food manager in our operations.
