Cancer and Pulmonary Care Unit

The Cancer and Pulmonary Care Unit provides oncological and pulmonary inpatient care.

We are located in pleasant facilities in the O-building, close to outpatient care, radiation therapy, and radiology. The oncology section conducts both elective and emergency operations and cares for patients in treatment and palliative stages. Oncological nursing is a central part of your work, including pain management and palliative care. The team cares for adult patients with various cancer diagnoses, which means your work will be varied and include many different tasks.

Job Description

As a nursing assistant, you work together with other professionals in a team. Your work primarily involves being close to the patient and addressing individual and specific nursing and rehabilitation needs. In dialogue with the patient and their relatives, you provide support and guidance to enable optimal participation in care and treatment. Your tasks include assisting the patient with basic nursing, wound care, sample collection, and monitoring vital parameters.

Work Group

The team working with the patient consists of nurses, nursing assistants, doctors, dietitians, social workers, occupational therapists, and physiotherapists. The department also has coordinators who manage and handle parts of the administrative work. A holistic perspective around the patients is of great importance, and clear communication between all those working around the patient is necessary. The department has 6-10 care places with both planned and emergency admissions. Your introduction will be tailored based on your knowledge, skills, and previous experiences. We have a strong focus on education and development.

About You

You are a trained nursing assistant and have previously worked in inpatient care or palliative care. It is an advantage if you have prior experience in oncological nursing.

You communicate a lot with patients, relatives, and colleagues, so good knowledge of the Swedish language in both spoken and written form is required.

You have good collaboration skills and contribute to a positive work environment with a positive attitude. You are meticulous, quality-conscious, and have an empathetic ability. You are willing to contribute to the development of the operation in collaboration with other colleagues in the team. As a person, you easily adapt to changing circumstances and see opportunities in changes. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability and your ability to be punctual and follow applicable routines and guidelines.
