Your Responsibilities

Vallastaden Support Housing is now looking for a specialist nurse assistant! Are you a person who enjoys working in a team and wants to be a reliable support for our residents who need psychosocial support and care? Then this is the position for you!

As a specialist nurse assistant, you support the resident in their daily life. You are responsible for planning and structuring the daily routine together with the resident, with various interventions tailored to their needs. We work with a contact person model to create safety and continuity in our work.

The interventions may include support in various daily activities such as cleaning, laundry, shopping, and personal care. We support residents at all stages of life, with an age range from early 20s to over 90 years. This provides a breadth of different types of needs, where some form of care is included as part of aging. The work also includes being a conversation support, focusing on active listening and guidance. Your work should always be characterized by respect for the individual's self-determination, integrity, and participation. An important part of your role is to strengthen the individual's belief in their own abilities. The work also includes encouraging and motivating activities, social interaction, and employment.

In the role of specialist nurse assistant, you will also perform more advanced care tasks in geriatrics, palliative care, dementia, and mental health issues. You are expected to contribute your knowledge to other colleagues and guide them in the care work. You will have close contact with other external actors, such as psychiatry.

Your working hours are scheduled during the day from 7 AM to 4 PM.

Your Workplace

The Adult Department within the Social Administration is responsible for authority exercise and support for individuals over 21 years old within individual and family care, social psychiatry, and according to LSS (the Act on Support and Service for Certain Disabled Persons). Within social psychiatry, we work with individuals with mental and/or neuropsychiatric disabilities as well as substance abuse issues.

Vallastaden Support Housing consists of 15 apartments located in the same stairwell and a satellite apartment in the neighboring building. In the stairwell, there is also a base where staff operate from, and where our residents are welcome to socialize and eat. With us, you will belong to an engaged workgroup consisting of 14 colleagues in an inspiring and newly built neighborhood close to the university with convenient bus connections. You will belong to a multidisciplinary team and be the extended arm of the operation in collaboration with nurses, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who is a trained specialist nurse assistant. To succeed in this role, it is important that you have experience in care work, and we consider experience in psychiatry and/or neuropsychiatry as an advantage. It is also advantageous if you have experience in other social work and/or difficult conversations.

Our work is based on methods and approaches such as low-arousal responses, ESL (An Independent Life), MI (Motivational Interviewing), and educational approaches, so it is advantageous if you have knowledge in these areas. You need to master Swedish in both spoken and written forms and have good computer skills, as we use digital tools for communication with clients as well as for documentation and record-keeping. A driving license for manual transmission is desirable.

We are looking for someone who enjoys working with others, is attentive, communicative, and can handle conflicts constructively. You should be calm and stable, even under pressure, and able to focus on what is important. You should be able to weigh pros and cons in different decisions and show good judgment in your choices. You take responsibility for your tasks, structure your approaches, and drive your processes forward. You have the ability to listen to individual needs and can provide advice and support constructively.
