Job Responsibilities

We at Ung Hisingen are now looking for employees for our team that works with children and young people at risk.

The unit is organizationally placed within the department for Children and Youth Resources at the Social Administration of Hisingen. In addition to youth counselors, the unit also includes family counselors, field secretaries, those working with municipal activity responsibility, and method supervisors.

The common main mission of the unit is to reduce negative developments in crime, mental health issues, and substance abuse among young people aged 10-25 in Hisingen.

Youth counselors work with assessed and treatment-oriented interventions, covering the entire Hisingen area. As a youth counselor, you work to see the whole picture around the young person and generally work based on CBT and MI as approaches, and may, if necessary, work based on manual-based methods such as rePULSE and Crime as a Lifestyle.

Your work includes being active in the various contexts of young people, working to strengthen the young person and their network. As a youth counselor, you also maintain ongoing contact with guardians.

You collaborate with various authorities and actors to effectively identify young people at risk of exclusion, crime, and other norm-breaking behaviors. One of the goals is for the young people to experience reduced exclusion and be motivated to change risk behaviors.

As an employee, you are expected to participate in operational meetings and ongoing development work and training. Daily work includes follow-up, reporting, and documentation.

Qualifications

Applicants should have a degree in social work or another qualification deemed equivalent by the employer.

It is a requirement that you have experience working with the target group of young people and that you have knowledge of working with guardians and treatment work. It is also an advantage if you have knowledge of growing up in socioeconomically disadvantaged areas.

In the role of youth counselor, you need to be curious/exploratory and salutogenic in your approach, as well as flexible, responsible, and available with a focus on the young person and their needs. You base your work on the equal value of all and create a good atmosphere in meetings. You take responsibility for your own and the shared tasks with the best interests of the organization and the youth in focus. You have a good ability to listen and build a working alliance with the young people and their networks and to collaborate with internal and external partners and colleagues. By being interested and creating understanding for others, you contribute to a respectful work climate.

You have good knowledge of documentation and possess a good ability to structure your tasks and manage your working hours.

Since the work is based on the young people's conditions, some working hours are scheduled for evenings. A driving license and driving experience are desirable.

Interviews are scheduled for January 16 and January 20.

The Social Administration of Hisingen is part of the social services in the City of Gothenburg. We are one of four social administrations. We work purposefully to create a better everyday life for the residents of Hisingen.

We offer support in individual and family care, social emergency services, assistance with substance abuse, and integration issues. We also work with recreational activities and preventive work on issues such as public health, community planning, local safety work, and integration issues.
