Do you want a meaningful job where your skills contribute to strengthening legal security? The National Board of Forensic Medicine is the expert authority that provides the legal system with the basis for important decisions – from forensic medicine and forensic analyses to forensic psychiatric investigations. Whether you work in core operations or in a supportive role, you are part of something bigger: contributing to a legally secure society.

We are now looking for a statistician for the coordination unit within the Department of Forensic Psychiatry, located in Stockholm.

Your mission

As a methodological statistician at the coordination unit, you will play a central role in developing, quality assuring, and supporting research and operational development within the department. In your daily work, you will manage registers, perform data extractions, and conduct statistical analyses. You will support the methodological design of research projects and other assignments. Your role also includes assisting in formulating analysis plans and describing methods in scientific articles.

You will belong to the department's coordination unit and will have close collaboration with the department's research staff, with opportunities to participate in research projects as a co-author.

The department has close cooperation with universities in both Stockholm and Gothenburg. In this role, you are also expected to support operational developers and management.

Qualifications

  • Degree in statistics, mathematical statistics, computer science, or other relevant education deemed equivalent by the employer.
  • Knowledge and experience of applying statistical and epidemiological methods in analysis or investigation activities.
  • Proficiency in programming in relevant statistical tools, preferably both SPSS and R or similar.

Meritorious

  • PhD in a relevant field.
  • Experience working as methodological support in the design of research projects.
  • Experience in registry research, with particular emphasis on psychiatric and criminal record data.
  • Relevant work experience for the position, for example in the forensic psychiatric field or within the legal chain.

Personal qualities and abilities

To succeed in this role, you need to be analytical, quality-conscious, meticulous, and interested in forensic psychiatry as a subject. You should also be flexible and have curiosity and openness to new challenges. You have excellent collaboration skills, pedagogical ability, and the ability to build relationships, as well as a strong ability to express yourself well in both spoken and written Swedish and English.

We would like you to enjoy a mentoring role, for example towards doctoral students and other employees who need guidance in statistical methods and analysis. Additionally, you need to have a service-oriented approach and be able to adapt your communication style to your audience.

We place great importance on your personal qualities.

Employment

The position is a permanent full-time position that begins with a six-month probationary period.

Start date is according to agreement. Placement in Stockholm.
