Research Position in the Energy Field
The Total Defence Research Institute (FOI) is a government agency conducting world-leading research in defense and security to support Sweden's military and civilian defense. The research spans several areas, such as underwater, cyber defense, space, electronic warfare, sensor systems, civil defense, CBRNe (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive materials), military platforms including weapons and protection, as well as security policy analyses. FOI's research plays a key role in building Sweden's defense capability.
Do you want to contribute your expertise to investigate how we can design fixed and mobile facilities regarding energy supply? We at FOI work with research for a safer world. We are now looking for a new colleague in the energy field.
About the Position
What do you contribute to our work?
In the role of researcher in the energy field, you will work on investigations that analyze facilities and systems from the perspective of energy supply. Specific applications include energy solutions for bunker facilities, performance evaluation of various energy storage systems, and mapping of energy needs. The work is both of a theoretical investigative nature and also experimental, often through self-developed experimental setups.
The role also involves strategic work to identify new questions and further develop existing ones, based on the long-term needs of the clients. In this way, the role contributes to advancing the research area.
FOI's operations in the working group are primarily project-funded. Common clients include the Swedish Armed Forces, the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration, and the Fortifications Agency. The role as a researcher in the energy field includes project management responsibility for projects of varying complexity that are to be conducted in accordance with FOI's project model. The work is carried out in both large and small projects, which means you will work both independently and collaboratively in a group. The working group has access to labs and equipment to carry out most experimental tasks requested in the field. We collaborate with various national and international research organizations, which means that travel may occur.
