Material Area Manager for Personal Equipment

Do you want to work closely with the core operations of the Armed Forces and ensure that the right personal equipment is in place when needed? As the Material Area Manager for personal equipment, you will have a qualified role where you lead the specification, development, and management of equipment that is crucial for users in everyday life, crises, and missions. The role combines structure, collaboration, and analysis in a context with high demands for quality and responsibility.

About the Unit:

The Material Section is currently part of FMLOG staff and is responsible for the material supply for the entire Armed Forces. The section consists of both military and civilian personnel who work together to ensure a resilient, cost-effective, and sustainable supply chain.

Main Responsibilities:

As the MOA, you will lead the work of specifying personal equipment based on the needs of the organization. This means that you:

  • Direct and control new acquisitions within the material area in close collaboration with FMV and other stakeholders,
  • Participate in the maintenance of the material together with relevant parts of the Armed Forces,
  • Develop new equipment and ensure that it is safe to use and meets the specified requirements,
  • Contribute to the planning of material production,
  • Establish system objectives and handle cases prior to decisions on usage.

The position will likely be assigned to one of the following areas (we are recruiting for both). Please indicate in your application if you have specific experience in any of them.

- Protective and Carrying Equipment

  • Ballistic protection
  • Helmet
  • Combat carrying systems
  • Carrying systems
  • Motorcycle equipment
  • Firefighting equipment
  • Hearing protection

- Soldier Equipment

  • Food preparation equipment
  • Accommodation equipment
  • Chef clothing
  • Winter equipment
  • Living equipment
  • Aviation uniform

Qualifications:

  • Good knowledge of PRIO.
  • Good knowledge of the case management system VIDAR (Sharepoint).
  • Very good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish.

Meritorious:

  • Academic education in engineering or other equivalent education/experience deemed relevant by the employer.
  • Knowledge of Systems engineering (ISO 15288).
  • Knowledge in the area of personal equipment.
  • Good knowledge of the construction of basic and management data.
  • Experience in leading projects.
  • Experience from previous service in the Armed Forces.
  • Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in English.

You work in a structured manner and collaborate well across functions. You are flexible and can quickly change focus as needed, while being clear in analysis, priorities, and decisions.

You have a positive attitude towards the Armed Forces and share our values. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.

Other:

  • Employment form: Permanent civilian employment starting with a 6-month probationary period.
  • Employment rate: Full-time.
  • Start date: As soon as agreed.
  • Work location: Stockholm/Enköping. The work may partially be located outside the work area to ensure a good understanding of the environment where the equipment is used. Travel within Sweden and internationally may occur.
