Material Area Manager for Supply Disposal

Do you want to work with the entire lifecycle of materials and contribute to the planned, cost-effective, and operationally adapted disposal of the Swedish Armed Forces' supplies? As the Material Area Manager for Supply Disposal, you will have a qualified assignment where analysis, coordination, and development are at the center. The role involves close collaboration with many stakeholders and a responsibility that spans both the basic and war organization.

About the Unit:

The Support Division (STÖD) is part of the staff at FMLOG in Stockholm. Currently, STÖD consists of five sections: Security & Intelligence, Infrastructure, Logistics, and Material Section. These sections are responsible for leading and following up on the unit's technical service, material and supply issues, command system issues, infrastructure, operational security, as well as environmental and quality issues. The Material Area Manager for Supply Disposal is part of the Material Section.

Main Responsibilities:

In the role of Material Area Manager (MOA), you are responsible for capturing the operational needs for supply disposal and for directing, coordinating, and following up on the implementation within the Swedish Armed Forces' material areas. The work is carried out in close cooperation with other branches of the armed forces and the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV), where you are also the task provider to the Swedish Armed Forces' Technical and Maintenance Office Logistics (TVKLOG) regarding disposal.

You participate in the maintenance of material systems together with relevant stakeholders within the Swedish Armed Forces and monitor the requirements work during the development of new materials. This includes ensuring that the material can be disposed of as intended when the supply reaches its end stage and that the area remains within the allocated budget. The role also includes work to integrate the Swedish Armed Forces into NATO from a supply disposal perspective.

Recurring tasks include:

  • Analyzing data in the Material Production Plan for the branches of the armed forces,
  • Following up on the budget against TVKLOG,
  • Preparing materials for material production dialogues, quotes, and security protection analyses,
  • Initiating and following up on assignments through monthly reporting,
  • Developing routines for supply disposal together with TVKLOG,
  • Collaborating on Warehouse Resource Planning and Disposal Flow,
  • Supporting the Logistics Area MOA in the role of sub-process leader for disposal,
  • Conducting training initiatives on supply disposal at the central level.

You support the Swedish Armed Forces' process leaders for supply disposal in their tasks and can represent the function in development work if necessary. We are looking for someone who is interested in working with both the development and management of the systems and equipment required for the Swedish Armed Forces' operations, within both the basic and war organization.

Qualifications:

  • Good understanding of the material lifecycle
  • Good understanding of the Swedish Armed Forces' technical service
  • Insight into material design management
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and follow up on projects
  • Good ability to express oneself in speech and writing in Swedish & English
  • Driver's license B

Meritorious:

  • Systems engineering ISO 15288
  • Supply chain management
  • Public economics and administration
  • Academic education in engineering, or equivalent education/experience deemed relevant by the employer
  • Swedish military service or worked as a civilian in the Swedish Armed Forces or the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration for more than 5 years
  • Worked with the Swedish Armed Forces' material and accounting systems for more than 5 years

Personal Qualities:

To succeed and thrive, you need to be both structured and meticulous with the ability to build good cross-functional relationships. Good organizational skills with the ability to lead and coordinate are also qualities that will facilitate your work. Sometimes you may need to quickly shift focus to solve arising tasks. Therefore, you need to be flexible and responsive to the needs presented, while also being clear in your intentions and decisions.

  • Employment type: Permanent civil full-time employment. The Swedish Armed Forces applies a 6-month probationary period.
  • Work location: Stockholm/Enköping, but the position will involve business trips within and outside Sweden.
