Participation Coordinator at Psychiatry Northwest
Psychiatry Northwest is a university clinic in the northwestern part of Stockholm County's healthcare area (SLSO).
We provide psychiatric care at a specialist level in outpatient and inpatient care for individuals aged 18 and older registered in Stockholm County. We have approximately 550 dedicated employees distributed across an outpatient section with three general psychiatric outpatient clinics, two psychosis clinics, and four subspecialty clinics, as well as a section for inpatient care with eight wards and two specialized units.

The Assignment
As a participation coordinator, you will play a central role in strengthening the patient's voice and making care more inclusive. You will create opportunities for patients and relatives to express their perspectives, experiences, and interests.
The assignment involves collecting, monitoring, and giving voice to the patient and relative perspective within various parts of the overarching operational work. The participation coordinator is a resource shared across the organization. We are looking for someone with personal experience of long-term mental illness and contact with psychiatry as well as experience in psychiatric inpatient care.
Your personal experience is important for creating equality in contact with patients, providing hope for recovery, and serving as a bridge between patient and employee perspectives. You are open and transparent about your experiences and use them to help others. You are a curious and empathetic person who enjoys meeting new people and dares to challenge us to think outside the box. We value your communication and analytical skills, as well as your initiative and independence.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and participate in patient forums and register collected data.
- Support educational initiatives and training for staff, patients, and relatives.
- Collaborate with functions for care development, patient safety, care processes, and research.
- In this role, based on the views of patients and relatives, initiate, monitor, and drive development related to the organization's mission.
- Support patient and relative councils and other patient representation.
- Participate in the organization's follow-up of participation and treatment.
- Participate in the organization's patient safety work.
- Participate in the psychiatric network for participation coordinators.
In addition, other operational-level tasks may be added based on your competence profile and the needs of the organization.
Competence Requirements and Profile:
- Personal experience of long-term mental illness and having been a patient in psychiatric inpatient care and recovery, as well as openness about these experiences (you need to provide a brief description of your patient experiences in your application as this is a competence requirement for the position).
- No record of suspicion or criminal background.
- At least high school education. Post-secondary education is an advantage.
- Good knowledge of the Office suite.
- Ability to produce, analyze, and report data.
- Knowledge of current legislation in psychiatry and work experience from the public sector is meritorious.

- Background checks will be applied before a hiring decision according to SLSO's overarching guidelines for background checks during employment.
- Employees who will have patient contact must undergo a pre-employment health examination, according to applicable directives, which is conducted through occupational health services before employment.
- In addition to Swedish professional certification, good knowledge of the Swedish language corresponding to level C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) is required. The same requirements apply to non-licensed personnel with patient contact.
