The position is located at the municipal executive office, which is a department in Nyköping Municipality with central functions that support the municipal council, municipal executive board, operational committees, and service organization in areas such as governance, decision-making, and administration.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a municipal lawyer, you are responsible for providing legal expertise across a wide range of legal areas. Through continuous monitoring of the external environment and following legal developments, you contribute to keeping the municipality updated and strategically prepared to meet future challenges.

The legal function is tasked with providing legal expertise and advice to the municipal executive board, committees, and the municipality's operations in all legal areas to ensure that legal matters are handled correctly and efficiently. The function acts as an advisor, internal educator, and support in legal matters, with a particular focus on public law. The function represents the municipality in legal proceedings, is responsible for handling municipal regulations, guidelines, and legal issues. This includes, among other things, a whistleblower function and participation in work related to general elections.

• Provide legal advice to the municipality's various operations and assist with training initiatives.
• Ensure the legality of the municipality's decisions and processes.
• Represent the municipality in legal contexts.
• Review and draft contracts and develop internal governing documents.
• Identify legal risks and opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has:

• A law degree and notarization or equivalent experience.
• At least 5 years of experience in qualified legal work, preferably in the public sector.
• Good knowledge of public law, municipal law, and administrative law.
• The ability to work independently and take responsibility for complex legal issues.
• Strong analytical skills and a strategic approach.
• Good communication skills and experience collaborating with various stakeholders, both internally and externally.
• Advanced knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.
• Driver's license B.

Desirable are in-depth knowledge and interest in municipal law, environmental law, planning and building legislation, procurement law, municipal corporate law, contract law, tort law, construction law, and/or general property law, as well as experience from courts or politically governed organizations.
