Meal Service is an operation within the municipal management office and runs restaurants and kitchens in preschools, primary schools, high schools, senior restaurants, and residences within care and nursing services. Fyrisskolan's kitchen is a production kitchen currently serving about 1500 meals per day to primary and high school students.

Your Mission

As a meal assistant at Meal Service, you will work both with preparation and in serving where you meet the guests directly. In the kitchen, there is a rotating schedule, and as a meal assistant, you will help the chefs with the preparation of regular dishes as well as special diets. We work digitally with our self-control, our orders, and our dietary database where we daily produce labels for our special diets; this is a task for our meal assistants.

You will plan, prepare, and serve our salad buffet according to Meal Service guidelines, as well as plan and purchase vegetables through our purchasing portal together with other meal assistants in the kitchen. Your tasks will also include packing deliveries for our receiving kitchen, assisting our chefs, working in the serving area, and other usual kitchen tasks. You will present the food in an appealing way when served to guests and keep yourself updated on the ingredients in the food so you can report them to ensure guests have an allergy-safe and pleasant meal.

Your Background

We are looking for someone with a high school diploma and several years of documented experience working in a kitchen. Experience in the service industry is considered an advantage. The job requires good knowledge of the Swedish language and good knowledge of food hygiene. It is an advantage if you have good computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft 365, and Mashie or other digital IT support for kitchens. Having a B driver's license is seen as a positive.

As a person, you are service-oriented, calm, attentive, and accommodating in your approach. You are a flexible person who can see opportunities in changes. Furthermore, you take initiative and start activities to achieve results. The job suits you if you collaborate and relate to others in a responsive and smooth manner. Last but not least, you are good at structuring, planning, and prioritizing your work.
