Support Assistant at Nydalavägen 6C

The Disability Care Service in Umeå municipality aims to be a resource that liberates and strengthens people's ability to live an independent life through proximity and interaction.

Within special housing, there are group and service apartments according to LSS for people with intellectual and/or mental disabilities.

Nydalavägen 6C is a group home according to LSS with a focus on elderly psychiatry. The residence houses elderly users who need support and assistance in their daily lives around the clock. All users live in their own apartments and share common areas such as kitchens and living rooms. Our operations are characterized by an environment where individuals are met with respect and professionalism, allowing everyone the opportunity to develop based on their individual conditions.

We now need to expand our team with a support assistant!

Your Responsibilities

As a support assistant, you will support individuals with mental and physical disabilities in their daily lives with tasks such as meal preparation, cleaning, laundry, personal care, transfers, and activity planning. You will provide individual, social, and practical support to enable and utilize the users' own abilities, thereby creating conditions for independence. You will work to make the individual involved in their daily life and have a meaningful leisure time and/or occupation. The work also includes documentation, record-keeping, working with implementation plans, and medication management.

Heavy lifting occurs where transfer aids are used. There may also be verbal threats, smoking, and pets, so you should not be allergic.

The scheduled working hours are during the day, evening, and weekends. Within the disability care service, we work with joint planning with other operations.

About You

You are calm and secure, have good self-awareness, and use low-arousal responses. You work in a structured and professional manner in collaboration with the team, manager, and other networks. You are engaged and willing to share our values and work towards set goals as well as work on continuous improvements. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.

To communicate with users and colleagues, write and participate in care documentation, and receive medication delegation, you need to have good knowledge of the Swedish language in both spoken and written form.

Requirements

• Care and nursing program, Child and leisure program, Social work program, or other education deemed equivalent by the employer
• Experience working in care and nursing

Meritorious:

• Experience working with individuals with mental health issues
• Experience working with low-arousal responses in situations involving threats and violence
