Strategic SAS Developer for Sweden's Health Data Register

Are you ready to take strategic responsibility for Sweden's health data register and contribute to improving healthcare at the national level? We are looking for someone who wants to ensure that Sweden's health and medical care data and statistics continue to be world-class.

About the Position

As a SAS Developer, you will belong to our newly established Digitalization Department. The unit is responsible for the management and further development of large health data and social service registers containing confidential data, such as the Patient Register and the Cause of Death Register. We receive social service and health data from various data providers, primarily municipalities and regions, but also private actors and other authorities. Our registers are used to analyze and follow the development of healthcare and social services at the national level.

In this role, you will have overall responsibility for some of our registers, which means you are responsible for both management and development. You will work on quality assurance of incoming data by building import programs and controls, and you will document and continuously work on register maintenance. You will also participate in the department's quality work regarding the registers. You will be part of a team with other key responsible persons where you collectively prioritize, brainstorm solutions, and ensure that our internal and external stakeholders can access high-quality registers. The unit primarily works with software from SAS Institute and SQL databases.

To succeed in this task, you need to have close dialogue internally with, for example, our statisticians and our reporting function, which are important requirement setters. You also contribute your expertise internally and externally.

As an authority, we are in the midst of a digitalization journey while a lot is happening in the health data field with many new exciting assignments. We are looking for someone who wants to be part of our team and share this journey with us, where we together make a real difference.

About You

To do a good job and thrive in the role, it is important that you are a team player with good communication and collaboration skills. You have good problem-solving abilities and a structured approach with quality in focus. Together with your colleagues, you take responsibility for the whole while also driving the work forward in your area of responsibility. You can also lead others if necessary. During the recruitment process, we will place great importance on your personal qualities.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • post-secondary education in a relevant field, for example, with a focus on programming, systems science, or knowledge acquired in the workplace that is deemed equivalent
  • good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form.
  • at least 5 years of documented professional experience working independently as a system developer in SAS
  • practical experience with databases and SQL programming

It is advantageous if you have:

  • experience in interpreting user needs and the ability to translate needs into concrete solutions
  • knowledge of handling confidential data
  • experience in unit and system testing
  • experience in handling large data sets
