IT Department at Halmstad University

The IT department is centralized and currently consists of about 20 employees. The department has a broad mandate and works to provide strategic and operational support to the organization regarding opportunities and challenges related to the university's digital transformation.

Are You Our New Developer?

We are now looking for a developer with broad technical expertise who wants to help develop the integration and infrastructure platform that supports our research, education, and innovation activities.

As a developer with us, you will work at the intersection of system development, operations, and advanced infrastructure.

In this role, you will be a central part of the team that ensures our technical environments are stable, secure, and future-ready. You will work closely with both the organization and research support, contributing to creating robust solutions for data flows, computation, integrations, and application operations.

Your Responsibilities

• Develop and Maintain Integrations: You will build and further develop integration solutions and API connections that link the university's systems. The work includes design, implementation, optimization, and troubleshooting of data flows.
• Automate Processes and Support Operations: You will develop scripts, tools, and services that simplify workflows, streamline routines, and contribute to a more sustainable IT environment.
• Operate and Maintain Infrastructure Applications: You will work with your colleagues on monitoring, log management, patching, and troubleshooting in our Linux and Windows environments. The work includes routine server maintenance, optimization of deployed services, and handling incidents that affect availability, security, and performance.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

• A relevant university degree in IT (or equivalent competence as assessed by the employer).
• At least 5 years of experience in a technically advanced operations or development role where you have worked with:
• programming and scripting for automation and system development
• .NET development with C#
• building and maintaining integration or backend solutions
• operating and administering Windows and Linux environments
• Good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing.

Important Skills

We are looking for someone who takes responsibility and works independently while having a strong quality awareness in everything you do. You have good analytical skills and can quickly understand complex technical issues. The role requires you to collaborate well with others and contribute positively to the team's work. You also have integrity and good judgment, which is important in an environment where we handle sensitive information and critical systems. Additionally, you have the ability to switch between development and operations and thrive in a role where both perspectives are important.

It is advantageous if you also have:

• Good knowledge of SQL database administration
• Experience with authentication and login methods, such as SAML, Azure AD, or other modern identity solutions
• Good knowledge of Frontend development in modern programming languages
• Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible, etc.)
• Experience with version control (Git)
• Experience working within an Incident Response Team (IRT) with the ability to quickly analyze and handle security incidents
