Botkyrka Municipality is the sixth largest municipality in Stockholm County and consists of the districts of Alby, Fittja, Hallunda, Norsborg, Tullinge, Tumba, Vårsta, and Grödinge. Botkyrka Municipality has approximately 95,000 inhabitants and over 6,400 employees.
The Municipal Executive Office is responsible for governance, leadership, and coordination within the municipality. We contribute to making visions and political decisions a reality. We are about 275 employees with specialist knowledge in areas such as finance, procurement, HR, communication, development and administration, digitization, law, place development, and safety and security issues.
The Position and Responsibilities
We are looking for a development-oriented Data Protection Officer who wants to combine legal expertise with practical and supportive work for the entire Botkyrka Municipality.
In this role, you will have an independent assignment to ensure that the municipality complies with data protection legislation while contributing to the operations having good conditions to do so smoothly and sustainably.
As the Data Protection Officer, you will oversee how the municipality handles personal data in a legal and responsible manner. You will review that committees and administrations comply with the General Data Protection Regulation, analyze risks, and report any deficiencies. At the same time, you will serve as a qualified support to the operations by providing advice, training, and guidance on practical issues, from surveillance cameras and digital systems to how new technologies like AI can be used in a legally secure manner.
Your main responsibilities include:
- monitoring and reviewing the municipality's handling of personal data
- providing advice and support to committees and administrations on data protection issues
- educating and informing about legislation and case law
- reporting personal data incidents to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection
- participating in development work related to digitization, AI, and information security.
You will be an important part of the municipality's development work and contribute to creating a culture where data protection and information security are a natural part of the operations. Through your commitment and expertise, you strengthen the municipality's work for a safe, legal, and efficient handling of personal data.
We Offer You
You will be part of the Democracy and Secretariat unit at the Municipal Executive Office. Here, there are several municipal lawyers, secretaries, and archivists with whom you will closely collaborate on issues related to information management and governance. Who You Are
You have a law degree or another equivalent degree in law. You have several years of experience working with data protection issues and have been responsible for planning and monitoring data protection work within an organization.
Other requirements for the position:
- Experience in educating and presenting data protection issues or legal assessments to various target groups within an organization.
- Experience in producing legal assessments, reports, and training materials that are clear, accurate, and tailored to the audience.
We consider it an advantage if you have:
- Experience working with law or data protection issues in public operations.
- Knowledge of data protection issues related to information security, surveillance cameras, or digital development.
- Experience handling data protection issues related to IT solutions or system development.
As a Data Protection Officer, you work collaboratively and contribute to creating an open and constructive collaboration between different operations. You share knowledge, listen to needs, and find common solutions that make it easier for the operations to implement legislation in practice.
