Are you looking for new challenges in psychiatric inpatient care?

Do you want to be part of an organization that makes a difference for patients with severe self-harming behavior? Then we think you should apply for this position!

About us

NHV inpatient care for self-harm adults is located in ward 131, part of Psychiatry Northwest, and is a general psychiatric care ward at Danderyd Hospital.

The ward offers treatment and care for patients aged 18-65 who primarily suffer from depression, anxiety, personality disorders, suicidal issues, self-harming behavior, eating disorders, and crisis reactions. The ward has a total of 15 care places, including one place for self-chosen admission and four places within the framework of national highly specialized care (NHV) for difficult-to-treat self-harming behavior.

National highly specialized care

Since autumn 2023, Psychiatry Northwest has been providing NHV for difficult-to-treat self-harming behavior for adults. The unit has a national assignment, meaning that patients come from all over Sweden via referral. Patients are offered individualized treatment where the entire care process is based on dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). During the day, patients have day care/open care that currently takes place at Karolinska Hospital, where they travel together with staff.

Job responsibilities

As a nursing assistant, you will be active in your core profession and will also be highly involved in the DBT-based treatment work. The position includes varied tasks in the form of a combination of ward work - where you work with all the ward's patients - as well as active participation in the treatment and day care of NHV patients. You will thus be both part of the wonderful workgroup of 131, while after DBT training and special training, you will be part of the smaller and close-knit team that follows NHV patients from the ward to participate and support them in their treatment. As a nursing assistant, you are closest to the patient on the ward, and together with your colleagues, you will be responsible for the care work based on the patient's daily needs. You will document in the journal system Take Care and perform the usual practical tasks found in a psychiatric ward. Work at the NHV unit is characterized by teamwork in close collaboration with other professional groups. You will coach patients to use newly acquired skills based on their own goals and in accordance with the care plan. Currently, psychologists, doctors, nurses, nursing assistants, and social workers work at the unit.

Qualifications

You who are applying must be a trained nursing assistant, and previous experience in psychiatric care work within inpatient care or another setting where you have encountered individuals with psychiatric issues is a requirement. If you have a specialization in psychiatry in your education and/or previous experience with DBT, this is an advantage. You must be able to provide proof of a protected professional title for nursing assistants or an employer certificate confirming that you had a permanent position as a nursing assistant on July 1, 2023, in accordance with the transitional provisions (2021:739) in the Patient Safety Act (2010:659).

Personal qualities

We see that you as a person have a genuine interest and commitment to the ward's target group and can remain calm in emotionally stressful situations. You are secure and stable and have good collaboration skills. You are structured and enjoy working in a team. Furthermore, we would like you to have an interest in change and development work and contribute new creative ideas.

What we can offer you

We are looking for a colleague for a permanent full-time position (37 hours/week). The work is scheduled and includes shifts during the day, evening, and 2 out of 5 weekends. A 6-month probationary period may apply. You will be offered 8 days of intensive DBT training and continued professional development as well as ongoing supervision. As an employer, we care about our employees' health and well-being, and offer, among other things, flexible hours, wellness hours, and 5,000 SEK in annual wellness benefits.

Warm welcome to your application! The position will be filled provided that it does not need to be used for internal relocation, according to current regulations.
