Creative Curator with Program Responsibility
The Historical Museum is Sweden's archaeological and historical living room. We unite people through time and space, making history significant for more. We do this, among other things, through the museum's program activities where we meet children, young people, and adults.
We are now looking for a creative curator with program responsibility who sees the museum's important role as a societal function and is passionate about providing people with the tools to help create history together with us. We are looking for someone who wants to help create an inclusive arena for history where the present and future are an obvious part. You have experience in planning, producing, implementing, and developing programs that engage, include, and inspire. You are used to driving collaborations with various actors in civil society as well as with actors in other relevant areas of society such as researchers, artists, musicians, organizations, etc.
To thrive in this role, you are genuinely interested in lifelong learning and have a great interest in the world around you. You are both strategic and practical. You have experience in meeting and leading groups with varying needs and enjoy doing so. You are accustomed to working independently based on goals and deadlines and work well in teams with internal and external partners. You have a good ability to structure, organize, prioritize, and execute various tasks. You take initiative and dare to try new things.
Since we work in a public service where our visitors are the focus, it is important to be flexible and able to work on several processes simultaneously. As a colleague, you are social, engaged, curious, and solution-oriented. We place great importance on personal qualities.
The position is part of the Historical Museum's learning unit and reports to its unit manager.
Responsibilities include
- Planning, coordinating, and implementing program activities in relation to budget, timelines, and governing documents for the operation. Within this framework, you will develop the program activities, maintain external contacts, and handle administration.
- Having practical primary responsibility for implementation with the museum's other staff. You are often on-site and carry out activities practically, taking care of partners, hosts, preparing, and restoring venues.
- Coordinating and updating communication about events and program activities in close collaboration with the museum's communicator and educators. This also involves practical work with the museum's social media within the framework of program activities.
- Leading the working group that produces programs.
- Showing the museum's exhibitions to various groups.
Requirements
- You have at least two years of documented experience in producing and implementing public programs and events within the cultural sector.
- You communicate well in both spoken and written Swedish and English.
- You have documented experience in driving various collaborative projects with different actors in society.
- You have good knowledge of contemporary cultural life and are also used to presenting the activities you are responsible for to different groups.
- You have documented experience in leading groups of various ages and with varying needs.
Merits
- You have education in project management or equivalent.
- You have an academic background in relevant subjects such as history, archaeology, art, or similar.
- You have experience working with accessibility and social sustainability.
- You have worked with social media and are used to working in Meta.
- You have some technical skills and can handle presentations, microphones, and speakers for simpler events.
Application
In your application, we would like you to send a CV that clearly shows your experiences and how you match the requirements, a short description of yourself, and examples of and/or links to previous projects or activities relevant to the position.
