Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions

We work for everyone living here today and in the future. We are now looking for you who want to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.

The Northern Inner City district consists of the central parts of Stockholm, Norrmalm, and Östermalm. Here we work to provide our 155,000 residents with the best services in areas such as preschool, social services, elderly care, and urban development. We welcome you who want to make a difference for the residents of the Northern Inner City.

Welcome to us

The Security and Safety Unit within the Quality Department works to ensure that Stockholm is a safe city for residents and visitors.

The Klara area, which includes Sergels Torg and the Central Station, is a prioritized area for safety and place collaboration. Since 2016, we have collaborated with the police, security guards, and social services to reduce crime and increase safety in the area.

We offer

We are a newly started operation in active service since April 2025. With us, you will have the opportunity to help shape the work from the beginning and contribute to concrete social benefits. Our target group is primarily in the Sergels Torg/Klara area, a place with both opportunities and challenges where many young people move daily.

We are now looking for more employees for our field operations, where the focus is on contact and relationship-building efforts for children, youth, and young adults through outreach work in the outdoor environment in the Klara area. You will be part of an engaged team consisting of two parallel operations:

  • Klaranavet: our information center where youth coaches work and where young people can turn to.
  • Outreach operations: where you will be working directly in the area to meet young people where they are.

As a field worker, you will also be part of the administration's crisis support together with our youth coaches – the only functions with this important role. The work is characterized by close collaboration with other community actors and provides an opportunity to contribute to concrete social benefits.

Your role

As a Klarafältare, you will work outreach in the Klara area, which is largely a risk environment and open drug scene. You will actively seek out young people, build relationships, and act as a safe, boundary-setting adult. The role includes noticing and managing situations where there is concern and collaborating with other community actors.

Since the assignment largely takes place outdoors and involves many relocations between different places, in all weather, the role requires good physical ability to perform the work sustainably.

Collaboration with our partners is a given, as you will participate in collaborative efforts at Sergels Torg and Stockholm Central Station. As a Klarafältare, you will be an important actor as you document and contribute unique knowledge in the development of local situational reports and cause analyses that are constantly updated.

Your skills and experience

To succeed in the role of Klarafältare, you need to have:

  • a completed education as a social worker, social pedagogue, or another equivalent education assessed by the employer
  • experience working with youth and young adults
  • experience in outreach work in public outdoor environments
  • experience working in teams
  • good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written

It is meritorious if you have:

  • experience working in risk environments
  • knowledge of Motivational Interviewing (MI) and low-affect responses

We will place great emphasis on the following personal competencies:

You should have a strong desire to work operationally in the public outdoor environment. In the role, you need to be resilient to handle rapid changes in pace. You are a stable, safe, and present adult who acts selflessly and with high professionalism. You meet young people with empathy and dare to set clear boundaries even in challenging situations.

Other

We are looking for 4 Klarafältare;

  • 1 position at 100% where some operational leadership is included.
  • 3 positions at 75% with the possibility of increased working hours.

The work is done according to a rolling schedule and includes day, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts. The work involves many relocations outdoors in varying weather conditions and therefore requires good physical ability.

As a Klarafältare, you will collaborate closely with youth coaches and also be part of the administration's crisis support.

If you proceed in the recruitment process, we will:

  • request an extract from the criminal record
  • ask you to present your complete degree certificate

We will begin interviews after the new year, starting at the end of week 2.

Your application without a personal letter

This recruitment is conducted without a personal letter. In assessing your application for this role, we will only consider your CV and a number of questions you will need to answer in connection with your application. Therefore, you do not need to prepare a personal letter.

We wish for you to respond concretely and briefly to the questions as your answers will form the basis for our continued selection work. The City of Stockholm works with competence-based recruitment aimed at recognizing each person's competence and thereby counteracting discrimination.
