Are you a physical education teacher with swimming instructor training? Do you want to help more students achieve acceptable grades in physical education? Then you might be the one we are looking for for the position of swimming instructor.

The primary school department offers, according to the Education Act, a school place to all students in Uppsala from preschool class up to year nine. We follow the National Agency for Education's curricula and syllabuses. Our schools should be equivalent and safe, providing all our students the opportunity to succeed in their education and achieve eligibility for upper secondary school. The position of centrally employed educator is allocated to the primary school's management and works to increase the chances for more students to achieve acceptable grades in physical education.

The position includes employment at Pluggparadiset in Storvreta but is allocated to the primary school's management. On regular working days, the position involves swimming instruction in the swimming hall.

Job Description

In the role of centrally employed swimming instructor, you are responsible for planning, executing, and following up on swimming instruction as support for students in Uppsala Municipality's primary schools. The swimming instruction is planned in 4 different periods that are booked by teachers in physical education via course booking. The responsible for publishing the sessions is the administrative coordinator.

A period of swimming instruction consists of approximately 8 sessions per student group. As a centrally employed swimming instructor, you are responsible for the students during swimming instruction and its structure. The goal is for participating students to meet the knowledge requirement for swimming, which is 200 meters in a row, including 50 meters on the back. In connection with the progress and conclusion of swimming instruction, you will communicate with the responsible physical education teacher regarding the students' development and swimming skills.

As support in the assignment, there are municipal common routines and guidelines, as well as risk assessments and safety procedures. Students are supervised during transitions and before/after swimming instruction by accompanying resources from their respective schools. The position also includes a task to take over the responsibility of leading the municipality's network for physical education teachers.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a teaching license qualified to teach physical education and has swimming instructor training. We expect you to have documented experience in swimming instruction.

As a person, you are pedagogical and have an understanding of people's different conditions for absorbing knowledge. You are clear and ensure that your messages are conveyed correctly. Furthermore, you easily embrace and see opportunities with new ideas. The job suits you if you are outgoing and socially active in professional contexts. Last but not least, you plan and organize your work efficiently and take responsibility for your tasks.
