About the Job

As a trainee in system development, you will be part of one of our agile development teams from day one. In close collaboration with the business, the teams deliver complete solutions that simplify life for millions of individuals and businesses. Our systems contribute to a well-functioning society by creating conditions for taxation, population registration, democratic elections, crime fighting, and international cooperation.

The Swedish Tax Agency's IT trainee program is in its fifth year, and we are now planning for the next start where we want to hire up to 20 trainees in 3 different locations. During the program, you will gain knowledge about the Swedish Tax Agency's operations and build on your experience. You will have an individual development plan that is followed up and revised during the program period so that you can create the best setup based on your conditions and the needs of the business. You will have an experienced mentor as support and a sounding board. The trainee program lasts for 12 months, and your daily life will consist of practical training, education, theme days, and workshops, alongside working in the team. The program's structure is carefully designed to give you the best start to your career. Of course, the program begins with a kick-off.

Two of the trainees will focus on BI Developer/Data Engineer and will work in Sundbyberg. Our existing technical environment is primarily RHEL with Oracle databases. We work with tools and programming languages such as Informatica PowerCenter, Cognos, Qlik, and SQL. We have also begun our journey towards a logical data warehouse being built with the tool Denodo, where you will be involved.

You belong to the Data and Analysis Section 1 in the Common Services unit of the IT department, located in Sundbyberg. In our section, we are 18 colleagues.

About You

In this job, you should:

  • be a team player and ensure both the group's and your own performance
  • be able to analyze information flows, see connections, patterns, and make delimitations
  • have the ability and willingness to learn new things and to be able to rethink when necessary
  • be curious, enjoy challenges, and have the ability to drive your own and the business's development forward
  • express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish and communicate in an engaging manner.

You should also have:

  • a current or recently completed relevant education in statistics, engineering, life sciences, or applied mathematics/physics (at least 180 credits) from a university with graduation from 2024 or later, but no later than August 2026
  • knowledge of databases and/or database modeling
  • experience in system development in programming languages Python, Java, and SQL from your studies.

Good to Know

The employment is permanent and begins with a six-month probationary period.

Employment with us may involve placement in a security class. A security review with a background check according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585) may therefore be conducted before a hiring decision. For some of our tasks in the security class, Swedish citizenship is required.
