Children's Clinic Mälarsjukhuset, Eskilstuna
About Us
The Children's and Youth Clinic Sörmland is a regional clinic operating at the three hospitals in the region. The children's clinic at Mälarsjukhuset consists of a neonatal department, an emergency section with a children's and youth ward and children's emergency, outpatient clinic, and day care. With us, you get the advantages of smaller hospitals with a personal and close feel while providing high-quality care and treatment. Mälarsjukhuset is located in a beautiful area near central Eskilstuna with good transport links.
The neonatal department cares for premature infants and children in need of care at the beginning of life. The department has 12 beds, of which four are intensive care beds. We accept children from week 28 and have a close collaboration with Uppsala Academic Hospital, where we can receive the smallest extremely premature infants. From the department, there is also a team that works with home care as the final part of our care chain.
In the department, we work with the vision “Sörmland's children, safe in our hands” and strive to have high competence among employees and always focus on the family's right to be involved in the care of their child. Our commitment to the family is strong, and we strive for minimal separation between children and parents throughout the care chain. The family is at the center and should receive the individual care and specific attention they are entitled to.
In the spring of 2026, we will move into the newly built Mälarsjukhuset and will have new facilities that are better adapted to the family-centered care we currently provide. With better conditions for minimal separation of children and parents throughout the care process, as the women's clinic with delivery and maternity will be our closest neighbor. Parent rooms will be located right next to the intensive care unit beds. The work environment and the department's spaces will be better suited to our needs.
Your Responsibilities
As the head of the care unit with us, you are responsible for operations, staff, finances, and work environment. The role also means that you, as the head of the care unit, work closely with the assistant unit manager in the department. Your task as an approachable leader is to engage, motivate, and create participation among the clinic's employees with the aim of developing inpatient care. An interest in clinical work is an advantage. In this role, you will also collaborate closely with the clinic's other frontline managers and the operations manager.
The staff group consists of about 50 employees. We handle both emergency and planned admissions and care for our patients 24/7. The staff group is well-staffed and consists of competent and proactive employees.
To assist you in your work, in addition to the region's common support functions, there are HR and finance personnel connected to your unit.
Your Qualifications
You are educated in the healthcare field, preferably a licensed nurse. It is advantageous if you have experience working in a managerial position within pediatric care. We are looking for someone who is present, attentive, and flexible in their leadership.
