Nurses wanted for the Stroke Unit at Nyköping Hospital, day and evening shifts as well as night shifts.
Welcome to a workplace where professional development, participation, and teamwork are the focus. According to the results from the employee survey 2024, 90% of our employees would recommend their workplace.
We are looking for nurses for both day and evening shifts as well as night shifts, with the possibility to combine night work with day and evening shifts if desired.
A nurse working with us describes that it is varied and meaningful to work with a broad patient category for whom care includes both prevention and acute illness as well as rehabilitation. It is rewarding to work with patients from a holistic perspective where a long-term plan is in place for the patient. The work on the unit is defined by safety, camaraderie, humility, and teamwork.
Your colleagues in the profession are largely nurses with extensive experience, many of whom have worked with us for a long time. To support you in your new workplace, you will have access to a care leader, who is a nurse with experience in the care we provide and can guide you in both theoretical and practical aspects.
About us
The Stroke Unit has 12 beds and we primarily care for stroke and TIA patients. Other patient categories that we care for to a lesser extent include amputee patients and patients rehabilitating after injuries to the central nervous system, such as traumatic brain injury.
Your responsibilities
As a nurse, you will meet patients in the acute phase after a stroke and follow them through rehabilitation. You will also manage pre- and post-operative patients, before and after amputation, and meet patients in need of post-ICU care, which includes tracheostomy care.
You will work in a care team with 2 nursing assistants and be responsible for 6-7 patients; at night, 1 nurse together with 2 nursing assistants will be responsible for 12-14 patients. During weekdays, we have daily team rounds and work closely with other professionals in a multidisciplinary team to meet the patient's needs for both medical care, nursing, and rehabilitation.
When employees have been asked what the best part of working in the Stroke Unit is, they have answered: Provides broad competence, enjoyable to see the progress of patients during rehabilitation, holistic view, easy to talk to colleagues and management, satisfied patients, teamwork, and good schedules.
All new staff are enrolled in the Stroke Competence Training conducted remotely through Umeå University, which covers 3 credits. As a newly graduated nurse, you have access to the Region's training program for newly graduated nurses. There is also the opportunity to further your studies to become a specialist nurse in Neuroscience when you have gained more experience.
Your qualifications
Licensed nurse. Experience in inpatient care is advantageous but not a requirement. You need to have good collaboration skills as you will be part of a team. We place great importance on personal qualities.
