About us

The Psychiatric Reception in Strängnäs is a specialist psychiatric outpatient clinic that organizationally belongs to the Psychiatric Clinic, Mälarsjukhuset (MSE). The clinic is located about 10 minutes from Strängnäs train station.

At the clinic, doctors, psychologists, nurses, occupational therapists, caregivers, social workers, and secretaries work together, totaling about 26 people. The clinic has a diverse patient group; we treat affective disorders and anxiety disorders, PTSD, obsessive-compulsive disorder, psychosis, ADHD, trauma, substance abuse, and eating disorders. The clinic is characterized by a broad competence, good working environment, flexibility, close teamwork, and high accessibility. Currently, 4 caregivers work at the clinic, one of whom is now finishing their service. With us, there is an opportunity to work independently, have close collaboration with other professional categories, and actively participate in development work.

Your tasks

The caregiver's work requires a flexible approach and an independent active attitude in consultation with doctors and other professional staff in the unit. The caregiver's tasks at the clinic are qualified and varied. Caregivers receive new patients for intake interviews, conduct independent structured supportive conversations with patients with varying care needs, where the most severely ill patients are highly represented. Support for relatives and support for children in burdened families occur. Planned home visits and participation in emergency home visits performed together with doctors for, e.g., care certificate assessments are part of the job. Caregivers follow up on patients' well-being, work with suicide prevention, and provide emergency interventions in ongoing patient cases. Caregivers perform tests such as pulse and blood pressure as well as urine tests in driver's license cases and other commonly occurring urine tests within, e.g., the dependency area. One task for caregivers is to plan and prepare and be group leaders for group treatments and training for patients and relatives. Before all ADHD assessments, caregivers conduct an ADHD information interview with patients. Collaboration occurs regularly with, e.g., social psychiatry/municipality and other healthcare neighbors.

Your competence

We are looking for someone who is a trained mental caregiver/nursing assistant and has experience working with patients with psychiatric issues, preferably with a particular interest in psychotic disorders. The clinical picture of the patients can often be complex, which requires that you have experience in psychiatric care in general and desirable experience in psychiatric outpatient care. You are flexible, have good collaboration skills, and have the ability to work independently, purposefully, and take your own initiatives while appreciating teamwork. You are curious and have the ability to meet people in very varying moods.

Qualifications

You take personal responsibility, are structured, and can plan your work. You can work independently but prefer to collaborate in a team around patients, which requires flexibility. We would like you to have an interest in development and improvement work. You need to feel comfortable conducting difficult conversations, including suicide risk assessments. A B driver's license is desirable.
