Would you like to do your thesis in automation?

AFRY Advanced Automation is a large organization within AFRY, with over 600 dedicated employees in Sweden helping our clients with advanced technical solutions while we are transitioning the industry towards a greener future and a more digitalized world. Therefore, we see a great need to engage more competent employees and are now looking for you who want to write your thesis with us.

The idea of the thesis is to develop a library for a SCADA system that streamlines work in automation projects, especially focused on the Water and Wastewater (VA) industry. With the developed objects, one should be able to efficiently create SCADA functionality for a typical automation project within the VA industry. The work will involve studying how VA facilities are operated from an automation perspective and learning how the SCADA system defined in the thesis works and adapting it to an application for operating a VA facility. Specifically, we envision the development of a demonstration application using the developed objects and simulation against a PLC system with typical control for VA facilities, such as a pumping station.

Support will be provided through supervision from AFRY, where an official supervisor will be assigned.

Timeline
Start in February and implementation during 2026. The thesis can be conducted with the possibility of working at both AFRY's office and at the university.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone planning to conduct their thesis in the spring of 2026 and who is studying to become a civil or engineering bachelor or master in automation.

You are in the final stages of your education and are interested in industrial automation & IT, as well as having a good understanding and interest in capturing needs & facts and programming a solution. It is an advantage if you have worked with programming before. Good knowledge of Swedish and English is a requirement.

The thesis in Automation is particularly suitable for you with interests in the following areas:
