Summer Temporary Position as Treatment Assistant at SiS Youth Home Sundbo

The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care (SiS) is an authority responsible for individually tailored compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial problems and for adults with substance abuse. SiS also implements closed youth care. We do this at youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse, across the country. Working with us at SiS will be an exciting challenge. SiS Youth Home Sundbo, located outside Fagersta, receives non-compulsory school-age boys with psychosocial issues, as well as criminality and substance abuse. We are tasked with providing care for young people with special care needs and accept boys who have been sentenced to closed youth care (LSU).

Job Description

Take the opportunity to try an interesting summer temporary position at SiS Youth Home Sundbo.

The goal of your assignment is to motivate our youth to new and less risky ways of living. As a treatment assistant, you will help ensure that the routines on the department function as they should. You play a significant role in providing stability and security for our youth and clients, and you are responsible for the foundation of daily life, such as schooling, cleaning, cooking, and more. You will also contribute to maintaining safety at the institution according to our routines. Documentation is an important part of your work. You will work on building good treatment relationships and contribute to ensuring that our youth and clients receive the security and safety they need to break old habits. Together with your team of dedicated colleagues, such as treatment educators and treatment coordinators, you have the opportunity to achieve good results and contribute to change. The job is often demanding but also stimulating, joyful, and varied.

The working hours are according to a schedule, including days, evenings, and weekends.

As a summer temp at SiS, you will undergo a tailored introductory training to prepare you for your assignment.

Qualifications

You should have:

  • At least a 2-year post-secondary education from a folk high school or vocational school (KY/YH) or other education that corresponds to this. The education should be focused on social work, social pedagogy, behavioral science, or another relevant field.
  • Driver's license (B)
  • Good Swedish language skills, both spoken and written

Meritorious:

  • Experience from client-facing positions in the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, e.g., as a probation officer
  • Security guard training
  • Experience from client-facing positions at the Swedish Migration Agency, e.g., as a case officer at the detention center
  • Education in care and welfare
  • Experience working with our target group (youth care)

It is equally important that you have a well-founded positive view of people, great empathy, and the ability to create good treatment relationships. You have good communication skills and can maintain your calm even in stressful situations. *Exceptions to the requirement for at least a two-year post-secondary education may be made in individual cases if there are special reasons according to Chapter 5, Section 4 of the Social Services Ordinance (2025:468).

Employment

As a summer temp, you are expected to work according to a schedule between weeks 25-32. Introduction will take place before the start during weeks 22-24, where both theoretical and practical information will be provided. There is also the possibility of introduction and extra work in the spring, as well as continuing the temporary position for weeks 33-34.
