Do you want to make every day a little better for those who need it the most?
Do you also want to combine daily care work and lead others while contributing to creating a meaningful everyday life for the children and youth living with us? With Joy, Engagement, and Respect as guiding stars, we strive for every individual to live a life characterized by self-determination and development.
About the position
As a unit manager, you are an important part of the organization and act as an extended arm to the operations manager. You combine a supervisory role with actively participating in daily care work, which allows you to both lead and work closely with your colleagues. Through your commitment and presence, you contribute to a positive and safe work environment while ensuring that the organization maintains high quality and follows applicable guidelines.
In the role, you have set aside time for administrative and leadership tasks. You are also part of SOLOM's network for unit managers, where you regularly meet for professional development and experience exchange.
Approximately half of your working hours will be spent working alongside other support assistants. The remaining time will involve administrative tasks. As a unit manager, this includes:
- Managing time reporting, scheduling, onboarding new staff, and recruiting temporary workers.
- Supporting employees with specific responsibilities and ensuring that the organization is adequately staffed.
- Being responsible for invoicing, purchasing, and ensuring the organization stays within budget.
- Ensuring that documentation, such as implementation plans and risk assessments, follows applicable guidelines and participating in collaboration meetings and following up on self-assessments.
- Contributing with in-depth knowledge in the area of disabilities and developing the pedagogical approach in the organization.
- Maintaining contact with relatives and other important individuals around the participants.
As a unit manager, you will work closely with the operations manager, who has overall responsibility for the organization and is your immediate supervisor.
Edsbergsvillan is located in a quiet residential area in Edsviken and caters to children and youth with intellectual disabilities with or without additional disabilities such as autism, mobility impairments, and epilepsy. Most of the children are multiply disabled and have significant care needs.
With us, you will find a workplace filled with joy, dedicated colleagues, good community, and present leaders. As an employee with us, you will also be offered benefits such as a generous wellness allowance and the Edenred lunch card (subsidized lunch). Of course, we also have a collective agreement.
The position is a permanent employment, possibly with a probationary period, at approximately 90% with start date according to agreement. It is our operations that dictate the working hours, which can be during the day, evening, weekend, and on-call.
To succeed in the job, we see that you have:
- Post-secondary education with a degree in social work, social pedagogy, behavioral science, or similar fields.
- Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both spoken and written form.
- Good computer skills, and can use email, Word, and work in operational systems.
- A valid driver's license (B).
- Good knowledge of, among other things, clear pedagogical methods and/or low-arousal approaches, as well as understanding what LSS entails and how the law is implemented in practice for self-determination and participation.
If you also have experience in scheduling and staffing, we see that as an extra plus.
As a person, you are confident in yourself and take responsibility for your work. With an unpretentious and professional approach, you create good relationships with both colleagues, relatives, and other individuals in your work.
Your flexibility and ability to adapt to new conditions allow you to handle changes in a solution-focused manner. You have a strong sense of responsibility and are good at seeing the bigger picture, which helps you in making well-considered decisions regarding staffing and resources.
About the recruitment process
Before any employment, an extract from the criminal record must be submitted along with valid photo identification. You need to request the extract yourself via the police's website: The extract we require is called "Extract for work with children with disabilities".
As we care about your and our work environment and the children and youth living in our children's homes, a background check will be conducted before employment.
If you are called for an interview, you need to be able to prove that you have the right to work in Sweden by showing that you have citizenship within the EU/EES or a valid work permit.
For those with protected personal information, we refer you to our HR unit for guidance on how to apply. You can reach HR via the switchboard at 08-128 240 00.
