Your Responsibilities

We are looking for a leisure teacher with diabetes competence for Frösakull School.

If you lack previous experience working with children with diabetes, you are expected to have the ability and interest to quickly learn the routines and approaches related to children with diabetes.

As a leisure teacher, you will be responsible together with colleagues in the work team for the leisure activities. This involves planning, implementation, documentation, and evaluation to develop the activities based on the school's governing documents and the broad interpretation of teaching in leisure centers. We start from the students' needs, experiences, and thinking and adapt our activities to the fact that students have different conditions. In the leisure center, we plan and adapt according to individual students' ability to participate based on the leisure center's curriculum. Our mission is to support students' social and general development, expand and deepen their knowledge and experiences, and offer active breaks and meaningful leisure time. During the day, you will work collaboratively with the school class based on agreement and the competence of the applicant. You support the students by providing them with support and stimulation based on their conditions.

The tasks vary, providing a diverse and challenging job, while the work requires both competence and personal qualities from you. You are a stable and secure person with a good ability to create trust in your surroundings. It is important that you can work independently, are clear, action-oriented, and responsive to adapt to the students' needs. You work calmly and systematically with low-arousal responses and have a positive and inclusive attitude towards students, colleagues, and parents.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for a licensed teacher specializing in leisure centers with diabetes competence. You are a stable and secure person and have a good ability to create trust in your surroundings. You have the ability to plan and implement activities with a clear connection to the curriculum and adapt the learning environment so that all students can participate and develop to their full potential. You can work independently, are clear, action-oriented, responsive, and can adapt to the needs of the student(s)/group(s). You work calmly and systematically with low-arousal responses and have a positive and inclusive attitude towards students, colleagues, and guardians. You are used to maintaining contact with guardians and value that these contacts are good. We place great importance on personal suitability for the work. It is meritorious to have qualifications in art or music.

You should preferably have previous experience working with children with diabetes. You should support the student in having a secure school day and be able to understand how diabetes can affect concentration, stamina, school performance, and attendance. You should be able to follow and use the student's individual care plan and have knowledge of type 1 diabetes in children, being able to recognize symptoms of high and low blood sugar. You also need to know or learn how insulin works and how blood sugar is affected by food, physical activity, stress, and illness. It is very important that you have a good ability to communicate with guardians, student health, and other colleagues.

Additional Information

Frösakull School is a F–3 school located in the community of Frösakull about 10 km from Halmstad. The school has about 100 students aged 6–9 years and also offers leisure center activities. After grade 3, students move to Ranagård School to attend grades 4–9. The proximity to the sea and nature provides good opportunities for creative outdoor pedagogy. Our beautiful schoolyard with forest, sports fields, outdoor classrooms, and swings invites play and learning in many different forms.

If you are offered employment within the Child and Youth Administration, you are required to present a clean extract from the Police's criminal record for work within schools/preschools. The extract is free of charge and takes about 2-3 weeks for the police to process. Therefore, order it in good time!
