In our department, we care for patients in two medical specialties. Our patients are primarily treated for various types of blood disorders (hematological diseases) as well as gastrointestinal and liver diseases (gastroenterological diseases). Hematological patients are treated with chemotherapy, antibody therapy, transfusions, and autologous stem cell transplantation. In the gastrointestinal and liver area, we provide a lot of intravenous treatment and biological medications. We also care for patients before and after liver transplants. The team consists of nursing assistants, registered nurses, and discharge coordinators.

The medical area is one of the largest at the university hospital and is organizationally divided into five sections: endocrinology and diabetes, gastroenterology, hematology, nephrology, and general internal medicine. Here, we care for patients with diabetes, gastrointestinal diseases, blood disorders, kidney diseases, and patients who need acute internal medical care, often elderly and multi-sick patients. Each section has an outpatient clinic. There are also three wards for admitted patients.
