Senior Advisor at Mid Sweden University

Mid Sweden University is facing a major development project within its operational support.

We need to strengthen quality, working methods, and long-term sustainability in light of future needs and budget conditions.

Mid Sweden University is therefore seeking a senior advisor with extensive experience in the higher education sector for a strategic and consultative development assignment. This is a strategically important role where you will contribute with experience, analysis, and advice in a development project of great significance for the future of Mid Sweden University.

Responsibilities

The assignment is consultative and will take place continuously in close dialogue with the university management. It may include:

• creating a comprehensive picture of the current situation – staffing, working methods, and processes
• identifying strengths, vulnerabilities, and development needs
• environmental monitoring and benchmarking
• providing recommendations and strategic input for future work

Your Background

We are looking for someone who has:

• very deep experience in the higher education sector, e.g., from roles such as rector, university director, pro-rector, or dean
• documented experience of qualified investigation and analysis assignments
• good understanding of regulated, ambition-driven, and efficiency-oriented work
• the ability to provide clear and strategic advice in complex environments

Your Qualities

In this role, you need to have a strong analytical ability and easily create an overview in complex contexts. You communicate clearly and build trust and have the ability to explain complex issues in an understandable way. You are attentive and can see different perspectives while providing well-founded and strategic recommendations with integrity and good judgment. You contribute to a professional and open collaboration in the dialogue between the various parts of the organization. We place great importance on your personal qualities.

Employment and Start Date

The position is a special fixed-term employment covering 40% of full-time from January 26, 2026, or by agreement until June 30, 2026, with a possibility of extension.

Work Location

Sundsvall or Östersund. Travel is included in the work, and there are good opportunities for flexibility between on-site and remote work.
