Gynecology/Obstetrics - Inpatient Care

The Obstetrics and Gynecology department consists of labor and delivery, postpartum, and gynecology wards where we work very closely together.

We have both 3- and 2-shift work schedules and adhere to the current working time agreements.

The delivery and postpartum department at Visby Hospital is a small unit that truly puts the patient at the center. We have a good and familial cohesion among the staff with excellent teamwork, a cohesive care chain, and high continuity. We strive for a good work climate and an open environment with personal development and openness as goals.

Your Responsibilities

As a summer substitute, you will step into the same role as the regular staff with responsibilities that include labor and delivery care, where you assist the birthing couple during labor alongside the midwife. You will be responsible for cleaning and restocking the delivery room after a completed delivery. The work on the postpartum ward includes instructing on breastfeeding, child care, and everything involved. You will also assist the pediatrician during examinations and support the midwife with various checks of mother and child. Cleaning of rooms and toilets upon discharge is also part of your responsibilities.

On the gynecology ward, patients who are sick or recently operated on are primarily located, and you will need to assist with personal care as needed and help with preparations for surgery, X-rays, etc. Cleaning of rooms and toilets upon discharge is included in the role. In addition to the specific routines, you will assist with laundry, supplies, restocking consumables, distributing food, and food orders on weekends, etc.

Who Are You?

You are a trained nursing assistant or a nursing student with at least three completed semesters, or a medical student with four completed semesters, preferably with experience in labor and delivery care or other experience from an inpatient unit with acute operations.

We see that you have a positive attitude with great respect for people's differences. You find it easy to collaborate and contribute to a good atmosphere in the work team.

Before a hiring decision is made, a background check will be conducted through an extract from the criminal record.
