Licensed Psychologist for Pain Center

About the Department

We are a team of just over 55 people consisting of doctors, nurses, psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, administrators, and medical secretaries.

The Pain Center is a specialist-level clinic that offers consultations and time-limited treatments. We work according to the biopsychosocial model.

At the Pain Center, we treat severe chronic pain conditions with a focus on medical pain relief and active pain management in various forms. We offer rehabilitation both in groups and individually. All treatment is tailored to the patient's biopsychosocial factors.

New Assignment

As of January 1, 2025, VGR's pain clinics will be centralized to the Pain Center. The Pain Center, together with Regionhälsan, has received the pain rehabilitation assignment in VGR. All referrals from outpatient care in VGR will be assessed by the Pain Center.

About the Work

Chronic pain is a complex issue that affects the patient in several areas, and the psychological work often involves stress, anxiety, depression, and other psychiatric conditions in addition to the pain experience itself.

The tasks include psychological assessment and treatment, which takes place both individually and in groups. The psychological work is done in close collaboration with other professional categories, and as a psychologist, you will be responsible for the psychological perspective in the team. The tasks also include collaboration with other healthcare providers and neighboring care facilities.

The group treatments currently being conducted are based on ACT, DBT, and CBT, but there is an interest in expanding these with new approaches.

About You

We are looking for a licensed psychologist with clinical work experience. You should have experience in psychological assessment and diagnostics, and treatment of patients with complex issues. Since the work is multimodal, it is important that you enjoy working closely with other professional categories and feel confident in your role as a psychologist.

There is ongoing work to improve psychological treatment for chronic pain, and several different methods have research support. Pain patients are a heterogeneous group, and it is advantageous if you are open to working with and have knowledge of various methods. The work will be integrative, and work methods will be continuously evaluated and improved.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability as teamwork is a prerequisite.
