System Engineer at the Naval Workshops

About the Department

The Boat Maintenance Department is growing to enhance the Navy's capability for maintenance and technical support. The department is part of the Naval Workshops unit and is being built as a flexible team where everyone is involved in the entire maintenance commitment.

Main Responsibilities

• Troubleshooting and repair of electrical and mechanical systems in connection with preventive and corrective maintenance
• Be the department's representative in the development of spare parts documentation for the FM central warehouse
• Be the department's representative in modification issues regarding electrical and mechanical systems
• Documentation and reporting
• System support to units

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

• At least a 3-year high school education in workshop, vehicle, electrical orientation, or equivalent
• Experience of at least 5 years troubleshooting within ships, vehicles, or equivalent technical equipment
• Experience of at least 5 years working with mechanical installations such as engines, drivetrains, gearboxes, and chassis
• Experience with digital and analog electronic systems and troubleshooting them
• Driving license B manual transmission
• Good and broad technical understanding
• Good knowledge of English, both spoken and written
• Good knowledge of MS Office suite

Personal Qualities

We are looking for someone who is responsible and can take overall responsibility for technical systems, as well as being proactive and action-oriented. You are used to working both in a team and independently, find it interesting to solve problems, are skilled at troubleshooting, and work with the maintenance of advanced systems. You are meticulous and have a structured working method and the ability to change pace when necessary. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

DESIRABLE

• Post-secondary education/course in electronics
• Post-secondary education/course in hydraulic systems
• Training, experience, and interest in 5S, continuous improvements
• Good computer and IT system skills
• Experience working in SAP business system

The position involves undertaking business trips, participating in training and exercises in the war organization.

The overall task of the Naval Base is to support the naval units with logistics such as transport, basing, surveillance, and medical care, both at home and abroad. The Naval Base has its headquarters in Karlskrona but operates where there is a need, for example in Berga/Muskö, south of Stockholm, and in Gothenburg. Other major tasks for the Naval Base include monitoring Sweden's 2700 km long coastline with territorial waters.
