Support Assistants Wanted for Långgatan in Umeå

The Disability Care Services in Umeå Municipality aims to be a resource that liberates and strengthens people's ability to live an independent life through proximity and interaction.

Långgatan is a group home within LSS focused on intellectual disabilities. All residents live in their own apartments and share common areas such as kitchen and living room. The facility also has a large outdoor area that offers residents the opportunity to meet and participate in various communal activities.

We are now looking for two support assistants with heart, commitment, and a desire to contribute to a safe and meaningful everyday life for our residents!

Your Responsibilities

You will work independently as well as with colleagues and other professionals to strengthen individuals' abilities to live independently based on their circumstances. Your working method is characterized by flexibility, continuity, and security. You provide individual, social, and practical support to enable and utilize the person's own abilities, thereby creating conditions for independence. Common tasks include supporting residents practically with cleaning, laundry, cooking, personal hygiene/care, activities, and medication management.

You will be responsible for planning, executing, documenting, following up, and evaluating various aspects of the operation concerning quality, work environment, and finances, both individually and collaboratively. You are also expected to create and maintain structure to reduce the risk of threats and violence that may occur in the unit. Heavy lifting may also be required.

• Working hours are scheduled for days, evenings, weekends, and on-call nights.
• Co-planning may occur with other units within disability care services.

About You

We are looking for someone who is a trained nursing assistant or has other education that can be deemed equivalent. You should also have experience working in healthcare. It is an advantage if you have experience working with the target group and if you have experience with low-arousal responses in situations of threats and violence. We also view experience with TAKK/AKK positively. Personal suitability will be given significant weight.

You have a good ability to collaborate and maintain a professional approach towards residents, relatives, and other stakeholders around our residents. You are engaged and have a desire to share our values and work towards set goals, as well as to work on continuous improvements.
