Electrician – Outokumpu, Steelworks in Avesta

Are you an electrician who thrives where technology is advanced, the pace is high, and no day is the same? We are now looking for electricians for the Steelworks – a key role in the maintenance organization at Outokumpu in Avesta.

Since we are looking for several electricians, both day and shift work may be relevant. On-call duty may also occur.

About the role

As an electrician, you are part of an engaged team that keeps production running – around the clock. You work with both urgent repairs and planned maintenance on electrical and control systems, PLCs, and process control. Here, you handle modern technology in a heavy industrial environment where steel production places the highest demands on precision and availability.

The work requires technical curiosity, attention to detail, and a willingness to find solutions – often in close collaboration with colleagues in mechanics, operations, and automation.

You are responsible for accurate documentation in our maintenance system, handle deviations, and contribute to continuous improvements of routines and processes. The role also involves electrical work responsibility and close contact with both production and management.

Your main responsibilities

• Perform troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on electrical and control systems

• Document completed work, spare parts, and time spent in the maintenance system

• Identify and report deviations and suggest improvements

• Collaborate closely with operations and mechanical maintenance during urgent interventions

• Ensure that all work is carried out according to applicable safety regulations

Who are you?

We believe you have a technical high school education in electricity, technology, or automation, as well as several years of experience in maintenance work in an industrial environment, preferably heavy industry. You have good knowledge of PLC systems, process control, and troubleshooting, and enjoy combining practical work with technical thinking.

Experience in mechanics and hydraulics is advantageous as the Steelworks contains many mechanical systems where cross-functional understanding facilitates daily work.

You are responsible, structured, and confident in making decisions even under time pressure. Collaboration is a natural part of your work style – you know that a strong team creates the best results.
