We are looking for someone who believes that all young people should have the right to dream about their future and who wants to continue building our unique education.

In the autumn of 2021, we launched our unique high school program, IM-individualized vocational training for students with disabilities. The goal of the program is to open doors to the labor market and a more independent future for young people with various disabilities. The most important part of the education is to build self-esteem and confidence for an upcoming adult life. It is also important to be able to get a job after graduation and to obtain as many grades as possible.

We started the program in autumn 2021 with nine students, and today we have about 50 students across four grades. Many of the students are puzzle pieces that have not quite fit into the school system before, who get a fresh start with us.

The students can come from all over Sweden.

The program is in close collaboration with several companies, where students will be on APL/work practice (with a support person from the school) 1-2 days a week. On the other days, students study the regular core subjects as well as character subjects towards trade and service or one of the school's educational areas: Sport Fishing, Hunting, Dogs, or Adventure. Everything is individualized, and each student receives a study plan tailored to their level.

The education will be very staff-intensive. There will be special educators, special teachers, high school teachers, primary school teachers, vocational teachers, and educational resources in the team. It is, of course, essential that the students with the greatest needs have the best educators.

We have a fantastic team of 20 people and are now looking for an exciting person who wants to be part of the team and join the rewarding journey of developing something entirely new.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is a high school/primary school teacher - preferably with a linguistic focus as many of our students have language impairments.

We are looking for someone who is a high school/primary school teacher or has solid experience working as an educational resource teacher.

You should have an aesthetic interest, as dance, music, theater, and art are essential subjects for the overall development of the students or an interest in one of our focuses such as fishing, hunting, adventure tourism, or dogs.

It is an advantage if you have taught trade or service subjects or have worked in trade or service professions.

Experience working with young people with disabilities and experience in language training is also highly meritorious. Familiarity with the Karlstad model is a bonus.

As a person, you should enjoy working in a dynamic and developing team. You should be flexible and able to function as a teacher for the entire group, as well as mentor students individually and, in some cases, provide support during APL.

But the absolute most important thing - above all, we are looking for someone who embraces the pedagogy of hope and knows that anything is possible.
