University Lecturer in Criminal Law

Description

The School of Business at Karlstad University (Karlstad Business School) started in 2009 and consists of working science, business administration, informatics, law, economics, and statistics, and has been AACSB accredited since autumn 2021.

The mission of the School of Business is “We educate responsible professionals and conduct research with high societal impact” and permeates our entire operation. Education is conducted at all levels with the support of strong research both in subject environments and in interdisciplinary research groups. Since 2017, a complete law degree (270 credits) has been offered with an advanced subject profiling in tax law, business law, criminal/procedural law, and human rights law. The education provides general eligibility for judicial service. The subject also offers a certain course selection aimed at students in other educational programs. Doctoral education in law is offered with specializations in general legal theory, civil law, financial law, international law, environmental law, public law, procedural law, and criminal law.

Currently, about 25 people work in the subject of law, and we need to grow! We are now seeking a lecturer in criminal law.

Responsibilities

The position as a university lecturer in criminal law includes teaching in the field of criminal law. The responsibilities also include teaching in other legal areas, such as IT law. Teaching is conducted both in the law program and in other programs. Responsibilities include planning, implementation, and evaluation of teaching at both undergraduate and advanced levels, as well as thesis supervision at these levels and on degree projects. We are looking for a lecturer who is a good pedagogue and who also actively wants to participate in the development of the law program at both undergraduate and advanced levels. The work requires active participation in applications for external research funding and the development of the subject's external contacts.

You collaborate with the surrounding community for mutual exchange and work to ensure that the knowledge and competence available at the university benefit society.

Qualifications

Eligible for employment as a university lecturer in criminal law is someone who has demonstrated pedagogical skill. In addition, a doctoral degree or equivalent scientific competence in criminal law is required, alternatively some other professional skill that is significant in relation to the subject matter of the employment and the tasks that will be included in the employment.

The main teaching is conducted in Swedish, which is why very good oral and written proficiency in Swedish is required. The work also requires good knowledge of English.

According to Karlstad University's employment regulations, teachers must have the personal qualities required to fulfill the employment as well as a well-conducted higher education pedagogical training. If the training is lacking, employment can still take place, provided that the employee commits to completing it within the framework of the competence development period during the first two years of employment or applies to validate equivalent knowledge. Conditions

Permanent employment, full-time with start date by agreement. A probationary period may be applied.
