The Stockholm East area includes the two closed prisons Österåker and Täby. Here, we primarily employ correctional officers, but also healthcare professionals, teachers, administrators, production leaders, and other important professions. Clients at the prisons are engaged in various activities including treatment programs, education, workshop work, as well as assembly and packaging tasks – all aimed at creating structure, meaning, and conditions for a better future.
Österåker prison is currently undergoing an exciting expansion phase with new prison places and employment facilities scheduled to open between 2025 and 2027. There are great opportunities to grow with the organization – both in terms of the number of employees and in new, exciting roles. The prison is located just outside Åkersberga – perfect for those who appreciate avoiding rush hour traffic. Car is the most convenient way to get here. Täby prison is a small facility with a family-like environment and good commuting options. Both prisons offer staff parking.
We prioritize a health-promoting work environment, and at Österåker prison, there is a staff gym. There is also a well-regarded staff restaurant where you can eat and socialize with your colleagues.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The work of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service is to enforce the penalties imposed by the courts and to prevent recidivism. To promote reintegration into society after serving a sentence, an individually tailored enforcement plan is established for each inmate. Part of the plan consists of treatment programs that are conducted both individually and in groups. It is important that the outcomes of the interventions in the plan are regularly followed up and documented. The treatment programs are evidence-based and primarily based on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and social learning theory. The programs mainly target violence, domestic violence, criminality, and substance abuse. To be eligible for further training in some of the more qualified programs, you need to have an academic education with a behavioral science focus.
The program leader's role also includes planning, developing, and following up on the treatment-oriented work together with the correctional inspector (manager), program leaders, and staff from certain other functions. All activities are conducted without compromising safety.

We are looking for someone who is easy to collaborate with, exercises good judgment, and has the ability to adapt their behavior to the situation. You see relationships in their proper perspective and distinguish between the personal and the professional. The role requires a good understanding of how people acquire knowledge. You can adapt your communication to the recipient's conditions and communicate clearly.
