Work at the detention center is often routine-based and focused on care and security tasks. Our detainees may be held for long periods without meeting anyone other than their lawyer and the staff at the detention center. This places special demands on you as a correctional officer.

This job is for you who are looking for a varied security job. Together with your colleagues, you will conduct daily operations. The tasks include monitoring, food distribution, and searches, combined with isolation-breaking measures such as everyday contact/conversations and motivational work with our detainees. Since some documentation is involved, it is important that you can express yourself well in writing.

You need to have good self-awareness, integrity, be stable, able to apply clear communication, and share the values of the correctional service. The job may require you as a correctional officer to intervene physically if the situation demands it to protect yourself, a colleague, or a detainee.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

The operations of Kriminalvården run around the clock, year-round. You will work days, evenings, and weekends. Some schedules include night work.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Work experience, including seasonal work, hourly employment, or self-employment. Internships and volunteer work are not equivalent to employment.
• Completed upper secondary education or other education in combination with work experience deemed relevant by Kriminalvården.
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both spoken and written form.
• Good computer skills.

It is meritorious if you have:

• A driving license, preferably for a manual transmission vehicle.
• Ongoing conscription, police education, or other legal or behavioral science education at the university level.
• Work experience from correctional services, security work, social care, psychiatry, or health and care work.
• Knowledge in relevant areas, such as behavioral science, criminology, psychiatry, law, and conflict management.
• Relevant language skills.
