Job Description

Do you want to do your thesis in one of the areas of Aerospace, Sensor Systems, Robust Communication Systems, and AI? Or do you have your own thesis idea that you would like to discuss with us?

Here at AFRY, we help our clients develop sustainable and secure systems, products, and infrastructures - for communities, authorities, organizations, and industries.

We are looking for you who plan to carry out your thesis during the spring of 2026 and who study the Master of Science program in Technical Physics, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems in Technology and Society, Industrial Economics, IT, or equivalent.

The thesis is suitable for you with an interest in one or more of the areas below:

- Space Technology
- Sensor Systems
- Mobile Communication Systems
- Radio Access Networks
- Drone Technology
- Geographic Information Systems
- Signal/Image Processing
- AI & Data Engineering
- Software Development
- Embedded Systems

Examples of thesis projects will be presented both at the job fairs we participate in and as additions in our social channels.

Each thesis will contain a balanced mix of literature review, theory, analysis, modeling & simulation, and evaluation of methods, and in some cases, be able to test concepts with real data or implement algorithms in demonstrator hardware.

The idea is that the theses take a holistic approach to the current system/development platform and also focus deeper on a couple of selected areas in consultation with the supervisor.

We prefer that each thesis project is carried out by two students, where a suitable division of work areas is determined in consultation based on educational orientation and interest. A thesis carried out by a single student can also be discussed. There is an opportunity to apply for the thesis in pairs, but the selection of student(s) is made on an individual basis.

To support, there will be a team of various experts, with a designated official supervisor.

If you have your own idea for a thesis, we would be happy to discuss it and see if it could be suitable for our operations and identified needs going forward.

We plan to select 2-4 students for a couple of thesis projects.

Timeline

Start at the end of January 2026 and implementation during the spring (equivalent to 30 credits). The theses will be carried out at our office in Uppsala.

Qualifications

You are in the final stages of your education as a Master of Science and have an interest in some of the areas mentioned above as well as getting to know a large international technology and design company.
