Do you want to contribute to smart recycling in a growing Uppsala? We are now looking for two operations managers for waste engineers to ensure our mission to collect municipal waste through developed collaboration with contractors and customers.

About the position

As a waste engineer, you will be responsible for the daily operations of municipal waste collection, including sludge and latrine. This is done in collaboration with contractors and customers. You will have ongoing contact with contractors regarding daily operations and report and follow up on statistics. You will be part of an exciting journey with new contracts, development of property-close collection of packaging, and work related to other changes in the waste sector.

You will work daily with deviation management, handling customer cases, advising, and occupational safety work. You will hold operational meetings, conduct site visits, and participate in relevant meetings with customers. You need to be familiar with contractor agreements and ensure that work is carried out in accordance with agreements, the guidelines of the Work Environment Authority, and Uppsala Municipality's waste regulations. The work also includes developing and following up on routines and instructions within your area of responsibility.

The position belongs to the Household Waste Section of the Waste Department. Together with your colleagues, you contribute to the section and the development of the business by leading or actively participating in joint projects and meetings. The work also takes place in close collaboration with customer service and the marketing department.

Your workplace is in our newly renovated premises in Uppsala Business Park, with good commuting options next to the E4 and good bus connections. There is also the possibility of remote work.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in a relevant field for the position or equivalent experience
• Several years of experience in the waste sector or work with customers, contract management, and operations
• Experience in investigating cases, both simpler and more complex and extensive
• Good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing and proficient in the Office suite
• As travel within the municipality is included, a B driver's license is required.

Meritorious

• Experience working with the operational system EDP Future and Mobile
• Knowledge of the Work Environment Authority's regulations, waste legislation, and municipal waste regulations
• Experience working with the transport of heavy vehicles

As a person, you plan and organize your work efficiently within set deadlines. The position involves a lot of customer contact, which requires you to be clear and pedagogical in your communication. You work well in collaboration with others and relate to others in a responsive and smooth manner, actively contributing to the group's development and well-being and working towards common goals. In customer contacts, you are attentive and accommodating and have an interest and ability to help others and deliver solutions.

Other information

A large part of our operations is classified as critical infrastructure since we supply Sweden's fourth largest city with drinking water. You must therefore be prepared to be placed in a crisis role within the framework of Uppsala Water and Waste's role in total defense. Uppsala Water applies a 6-month probationary period.
