We are looking for a Project Manager for Track Replacement at the Transport Authority in Stockholm.
The position is full-time.
The assignment involves close collaboration with the client, which places high demands on flexibility and teamwork.
The Assignment
The authority's mission is to prepare and implement decisions regarding the direction and scope for a long-term sustainable public transport system. They are also responsible for the management and follow-up of traffic operations as well as maintaining the functionality, safety, and value of the infrastructure. Every day, more than 700,000 people use public transport, which includes travel by subway, buses, commuter trains, and local trains. You will belong to the Local Train section, the Construction group. This group is responsible for various types of construction projects within the tramway, but also coordinates vehicle projects for the tramway system.
The new type of vehicle currently operating on the Tvärbanan weighs 13 tons more than its predecessor, and in many places, buses run in the tracks. This leads to significant stress on both the rails and the surrounding asphalt, which wears out abnormally much, resulting in high maintenance costs.
The project will review and replace the track at four locations along the line that have particularly high needs; at one of the locations, some switches also need to be replaced. The four locations will be managed as separate projects, but planning and contracting should be coordinated. As the project manager, you will be responsible for defining the scope of the projects based on previous studies and track replacements, planning, procuring, and executing contracts and relevant inspections, managing safety governance in the project, and ensuring that the projects are handed over to the receiving administration.
To succeed in this role, you should have experience in both planning and production of projects as well as administrative project issues. Some support is available within the authority, but since the projects you will be managing are relatively small, it is important that you are used to and interested in independently performing all types of tasks.
Responsibilities- Plan and drive the project in accordance with decisions made and according to the authority's Project and Program Handbook
- Ensure deliveries within the project's scope and timeline
- Resource plan, staff, and develop the project organization
- Be responsible for coordination and communication with both internal and external stakeholders
- Be responsible for safety governance in the project and ensure that both internal processes and the GOP process are followed
- Represent the authority in financial matters and ensure that project funds are used appropriately through financial management such as budgeting and forecasting
- Report status according to routine
- Document the process in writing continuously – meetings, workshops, email correspondence, communication, and investigations
- Ensure that the project and relevant documentation are handed over to the recipient and that deliveries are completed according to the project order
- Close the project, compile experiences, and deliver a final report
Requirements (Mandatory)
University degree or civil engineering degree with a focus on construction and civil engineering or urban development, alternatively at least 8 years of work experience in one of the specified educational fields. Documented experience of at least 3 years as a project manager leading projects in road, rail, or tramway. Documented experience in planning both track superstructure and substructure. Supported by at least one reference project where it is clearly stated what role the applicant has had and what the planning has included, e.g., tracks, switches, etc. Documented experience in preparing procurement documentation for contracts within railway or tramway projects according to AB04 or ABT06. Supported by at least one reference project. Documented experience of collaboration with municipal or other external activities.
Desirable
Certified project manager within PMI, IPMA, or equivalent. Experience in leading at least one project in a client organization. Supported by at least one reference project. Documented experience of working with tramway projects in the production phase.
