REGION SKÅNE

to apply for the job

Make a difference. Every day.

The Surgical Unit (VO) is one of the largest departments at Kristianstad Central Hospital and consists of outpatient services for vascular, upper/lower gastro, and breast/plastic patients. We also have an oncology treatment unit, Acute Surgical Department, Surgical Department, Urology and Vascular Department, Gynecology Surgery, Ear-Nose-Throat, and Acute Orthopedic Department.

Our Surgical Department specializes in patients undergoing surgical treatment for colorectal diseases, as well as patients with acute surgical conditions. Many of our patients may have an oncological diagnosis. We provide both pre- and postoperative care. The development within the specialty is progressing, with surgical techniques and medical treatments becoming increasingly complex and more accessible to a larger number of patients.

We have knowledgeable and dedicated staff, and our goal is always to keep the patient in focus. We are a large team with different professional categories working closely together around the patient. Our department pharmacist relieves nurses by ordering medications, ensuring that all medications are available in our inventory, and restocking the medication carts for each team. The pharmacist also assists in preparing IVs, antibiotics, and tablet splitting. During weekdays, we have coordinators who coordinate all incoming calls and a SVU coordinator who plans and maps the patient's needs before discharge.

We are continuing to develop our department with additional nurses and nursing assistants.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

At our Surgical Department, you will have an exciting and developing job in a pleasant work environment where everyone helps each other. You will be surrounded by friendly and competent colleagues in close teamwork.

As a nurse, you will work with preoperative preparations and postoperative care of patients who have undergone colorectal surgery. We work according to ERAS, which is an evidence-based care program aimed at ensuring faster recovery, reduced complications, and shorter hospital stays for patients. Our workgroup focuses on development and improvement within our unit. We have well-established routines and care deeply about our patients.

- The mentorship was what made me stay here. I had the opportunity to be part of an operation. It was so exciting! We have a great community here, and we all work as a team, says nurse Nelly.

If you are new to your role as a nurse, there is an opportunity to participate in our clinical foundation year. You will receive an individually tailored introduction program, and we have an educational nurse available for support, guidance, and training. There are also opportunities for education and professional development, as well as placements within collaborating departments. We offer you an exciting and varied job with several development opportunities.

If you are curious and interested in learning more about the department or the nursing role with us, please feel free to contact Laura Trobäck, the acting unit manager, via phone or email.
