Job Advertisement: Seasonal Staff for the Nature Conservation Unit

The County Administrative Board of Skåne is a government authority at the regional level responsible for state administration in the county. We work to ensure that national goals are implemented in the county based on regional conditions. Within our assignments, we provide advice, permits, supervision, plans, and strategies. We manage natural areas and distribute financial support. We collaborate with stakeholders throughout the county.

We have approximately 600 employees and offices in Malmö and Kristianstad.

Description

The County Administrative Board is seeking at least three seasonal staff for the Nature Conservation Unit in the Department of Nature and Water.

Your workplace will be at Naturum Söderåsen in Söderåsen National Park. The employment is a seasonal position until November 30. Start date in March or as agreed. Working hours according to an agreed schedule; mainly weekends, but also weekdays.

The Nature Conservation Unit is responsible for the maintenance and management of state-protected natural areas in Skåne, as well as the operation of Naturum Kullaberg, Stenshuvud, and Söderåsen.

Söderåsen National Park is located 40 kilometers east of Helsingborg. The dramatic nature attracts around half a million visitors each year, many of whom are beginners in nature. This places high demands on the park's staff, who manage rest areas, hiking trails, parking lots, toilets, and information.

Naturum Söderåsen has the fun and important task of sparking people's interest in nature and contributing to nature contact. Through various forms of nature guidance, we aim to inspire and increase knowledge about nature, the environment, and human impact on nature, as well as inspire sustainable outdoor life. Responsibilities

Here you will have the opportunity to work in a dramatic and beautiful landscape that attracts many visitors and evokes emotions. You want to inspire others to discover nature and appreciate meeting other people.

As a seasonal employee, your tasks will include:

• Staffing the Naturum information desk, exhibition, and shop, including some cleaning.
• Welcoming and assisting visitors. Informing about the national park and nearby natural areas, as well as about nature conservation and outdoor life in general.
• Leading nature guidance activities of various kinds for both children and adults, including booked groups and school classes.
• Supervision and maintenance of rest areas, hiking trails, and parking lots, as well as some cleaning.

Working alone may occur with full responsibility for staffing the Naturum.

Qualifications

We believe that you are studying or have studied biology/nature tourism or similar at a university or college, or have equivalent knowledge acquired in working life. A B driver's license is a requirement.

You have good knowledge in:

• geology, ecology, nature conservation, and Sweden's various animal and plant species.
• Swedish and English.

It is advantageous if you also have:

• experience in nature guidance/guiding/communication work.
• good knowledge of Söderåsen.
• knowledge of languages such as German, Danish, or Dutch.

As a person, you are service-oriented and proactive while having a sense of order and the ability to work independently, even in unforeseen situations. In your role as a nature guide, you will meet many people. Therefore, it is essential that you are good at collaborating and feel comfortable communicating with groups of various kinds. Your hospitality and ability to convey knowledge are as important as your expertise.

Security Classification

The County Administrative Board has an important coordinating role during societal disturbances, and therefore we place high demands on our employees' security and confidentiality awareness. Some of our positions are security classified and may also involve military placement at the authority, which means that a security review must be conducted before a hiring decision is made. In some cases, Swedish citizenship is required in accordance with the Security Protection Act (2018:585).
