FOI is an authority under the Ministry of Defence, tasked with conducting research, method and technology development, and investigations for total defense, as well as supporting disarmament, non-proliferation, and international security. With us, you will have the opportunity to help shape the future solutions in defense and security. We offer a curious and engaged engineer a place to develop in warhead technology and penetration mechanics - areas characterized by extremely fast processes, large deformations, and high strain rates. We also offer a work-life balance, a developing work environment, and a socially important job!

About the Position

In the work of developing the next generation of warheads and protection, the ability to conduct advanced experiments and link them to the underlying physics is crucial. We combine experimental research with modeling to study explosive phenomena, where materials are subjected to extreme stresses. Depending on your background, your tasks can be adapted, but they include designing and conducting experiments as well as analyzing and evaluating results.

You will be part of a cross-functional team and work in project form, which means that collaboration and sharing ideas are central to the work. This is an opportunity for you who want to combine your technical expertise with practical, exciting experiments.

About the Unit

You will be part of one of the research units in the department of Weapons, Protection, and Security located in Stockholm-Grindsjön. Within our research area, we contribute to creating national expertise on explosives, weapon effects, and protection. Our work spans several technical areas and includes both experiments and evaluation of complex weapon and protection systems. We strive to offer an attractive work environment where everyone, regardless of background, feels welcome and can contribute with their perspectives and ideas. We have good public transport connections with Tumba, Västerhaninge, and Ösmo/Nynäshamn, making it easy to commute to and from work.
