Together we develop Sahlgrenska University Hospital for a sustainable future

We are transforming healthcare with the goal of becoming Europe’s leading university hospital by 2032. Together with our patients, we strive for quality, accessibility, patient safety, research, education, and innovation – in a cohesive healthcare system in the Västra Götaland region. Our vision and goals aim for care of the highest quality, where the patient is always in focus. We provide healthcare locally and regionally, but also highly specialized care to patients across the country and abroad. Our employees are our strength and contribute to knowledge exchanges nationally and internationally. With digital tools and new working methods, we can simplify everyday life at the hospital and offer modern, accessible, and efficient care of the highest quality.

About us

The Clinical Immunology and Transfusion Medicine (KITM) department at Sahlgrenska University Hospital is one of the largest laboratories in the country for diagnostics, development, and research in the field.

We are responsible for blood services in Gothenburg, Trollhättan, Uddevalla, Borås, Alingsås, Skene, and Kungälv. Our blood mobile takes care of blood donors and performs collections at several additional locations. We are working to standardize our methods to make them region-wide.

The medical team consists of about 25 employees, including residents, specialists, and senior consultants. Our mission is to provide blood and blood components of the highest quality. We also develop new molecular, serological, and cellular diagnostics and strive for a strong research activity. The operation is accredited and certified and has permits from IVO and the Medical Products Agency.

On-call work outside regular hours is also scheduled.
