We are looking for someone who wants a key role in our supply chain within the commercial department!
About the role:
As a Supply Chain Planner / Purchaser at SMD, you ensure that the right products are in the right place – at the right time. You will work with planning, purchasing, delivery monitoring, and inventory management in close collaboration with both internal and external parties. At SMD, you will be part of an engaged team where your contribution makes a difference every day. You will work with clients in the tobacco industry, build long-term relationships, and be an important cog in a company where the flow of goods is central. You play a vital role in optimizing flows, minimizing costs, and contributing to effective and sustainable logistics work. The role requires you to be self-driven and solution-oriented – you are the one who sees what needs to be done, acts correctly, and has the ability to stay one step ahead in both planning and execution. You work proactively to identify improvement opportunities in processes and flows.
You drive your own work forward towards set goals and have daily contacts where you coordinate ongoing operations and further develop relationships with clients. Our clients are primarily represented in Sweden but often have international connections. Examples of tasks:
- Plan and execute purchases for our clients
- Ensure timely deliveries and manage any deviations
- Monitor and analyze inventory status, update forecasts, and reduce surplus
- Coordinate with clients regarding orders and deliveries
- Conduct invoicing and invoice matching in the system
- Maintain price lists, master data, and business systems
- Business analysis and develop improvement proposals for our processes
- Central contact person for both internal departments and external clients – both operationally and strategically
Your profile:
We are looking for someone who is structured, responsible, and has a natural ability to see the big picture. You are someone who takes great responsibility and thrives in a role where you can be proactive, drive issues forward, and solve problems before they arise. With a strong personal drive and a desire to stay one step ahead, you ensure that work flows smoothly and that we always deliver quality – both internally and to clients.
We believe you have:
- Experience from a similar role in logistics, purchasing, or supply chain (approximately 2–3 years is advantageous)
- Good knowledge of the Office suite, especially Excel - which you use as a tool in your analysis and planning
- Experience with business systems and logistics systems
- Good communication skills in Swedish and English
- High school education (post-secondary education is advantageous)

We are looking for someone who has worked in a similar operational role and on projects where you have many contacts with, for example, customers and/or suppliers. You are a relationship-building and positive person who sees opportunities and finds it easy to collaborate with others. In your work, you are responsible and very meticulous with details, ensuring high quality in processes and your own work. You have a good ability to handle sensitive business information.
In the role of Supply Chain Planner / Purchaser at SMD Logistics, you will also be able to use your ability to see the big picture and your desire to contribute to efficiencies, as we continuously work to develop the work for the department. You are an excellent coordinator with extensive experience working in MS Office and business systems and can handle multiple cases simultaneously.
Experience with our business system M3 is advantageous but not a requirement. You are fluent in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
As a Supply Chain Planner / Purchaser with a focus on the overall supply chain, you will be part of the Sortiments & Purchases department and report to the Head of Sortiments & Purchases.
